Yeah I was referring to the hot start. It was more tongue in cheek than anything, though I always do think of the 84 Tigers when people say you can't win or lose a division early on.

I liken Hayward to Toews. He may not lead the league in any category, but he doesn't have a weakness and is very very good at every aspect of the game and the total package is great, damn near the best in the league.

That was a routine flyout that somehow got out.

Martinez tried his hardest to walk everyone in the first but kept getting strikes called on pitches off the plate outside. Hendricks hasn't received the same calls this inning. This already has the feeling of Joe's first ejection of the season.

Put wood in, Hendricks don't have anything today. This game is winnable if you pull him now.

Just spit-ballin here, but how far does Hendricks have to fall before Warren and or Cahill get the 5 spot?

I'm sure he would have to have 4 or 5 straight starts like today's. He pitched well last year, and he has pitched well so far this season. He's an innings eater, 4.5 ERA guy. He has his really bad games, but will keep you in most games.

If the Cubs offense ever starts firing, they could easily make up for his bad days.

Why the FUCK is Zobrist swinging on a 3-0, down 4 runs, when Rizzo is on deck?

And that's why. Should be 4-3.

Listening to Pat and Ron last night, it occurred to me that Coomer has a lot of the Ron Santo mannerisms. Does any one else ever get that feeling?

I haven't picked up on that yet. Coomer is still just "there" to me, while Santo couldn't be ignored, for better or worse.

I find that Pat does the same, "Set up the idiot with a question" thing he used to do with Santo. And then when Pat makes a joke, Coomer has that same child-like giggle.

Well, Coomer is most certainly an idiot, but I wouldn't call him my idiot. Ronnie's observation that he never got called for a balk still makes me chuckle.

If Coomer gets it.

What?

He has never had a 4.50 ERA. His career ERA is 3.50. His worst year was 3.95. If we're calling him a 4.50 ERA pitcher from his three starts in 2016, then Jason Hammel is a 1.00 ERA pitcher.

He looked like he wanted no part of that AB. He took two fastballs right down the middle then was a day and a half late on the third one. Sure it was against Trevor Rosenthal but he has to at least give a major league effort.

Baseball is such a crazy game of inches. Rizzo robbed of a 2 run HR. Martinez dropping in a hit that is barely fair to score a run.

Busch Stadium is a beautiful place. Enjoyed being there today.

Will take 2 out of 3 from the Cards any time.

So Abreu hits "just enough" homers, while Rizzo's are "almost enough."
