Jacobs...closest high school to us in D300. They send the neighborhood kids to Crown though. Our kids go to Westminster.

SICP was possibly the worst shower system for teenagers. No dividers. No wall mounted nozzles. No, Ignatius had two or three metal poles in the middle of the room with nozzles around the pole. It was literally a circle of nudity.

same with Harry D Jacobs High School back in the day. and I've spoken of the one locker room shitter with no dividers at all. just a toilet next to a urinal.

I'm not ashamed of what I got but it is completely humiliating to stand there naked in a circle like the coven of witches at the end of Witch.

On the other hand, it did present some nice fantasy of what was going on in the girls locker room

I'm not ashamed of what I got now, but I was ashamed of what I had as a 13 year-old freshman showering with a group of all ages high schoolers. thankfully the only pedo around was the coach who leered behind a door handing out towels.

I think the big problem with the shower question is why do we not mandate individual showers in all high schools?

Virtually no one showered for gym for us. If people got really sweaty they would go in with shorts and clean their hair and upper body.

In four years, I never saw anybody take a shower after gym class.

showering was like 10% of your grade. you called out your name and they gave you a towel.

Let me guess, Catholic school with a priest as the teacher?

We were expected to shower and could get in trouble if we didn't. Of course, no one wanted to, but I think that had more to do with time constraints than anything else. At least for me. It could be hard to come in from gym, take a shower and get dressed, and then make it to the next class on time. Especially because the gym coaches were dumb and had little sense of time.

I had gym first period 6 out the 7 semesters I had gym class, there's no way I wasn't taking a shower, gross. Maybe like 10% of the guys did, but you can't cover up teenager stink with deodorant, CK1, and Drakkar all day.

BTW this entire process all started in 6th grade Algonquin Middle School. I figured it was pretty much standard operating procedure.

See, grade school was different for me. There were no showers. There was a changing room where kids would willingly pull down their undies, tuck and walk around laughing about being V boy. For some reason that seemed less awkward.

Showers were required when I was in high school. You'd lose a couple letter grades if you didn't shower everyday.

Plus, the area where you walked into the shower had an open fenced-like wall where the equipment room was and anybody could have just walked in.

There was usually a story each year about some girl(s) hiding in the equipment room and watching guys shower.

How else would you shower after a game? I would have loved my own personal bathroom in high school, but the Ressurectionist fathers were too cheap to provide those for us.

Too cheap or horny?

Catholic high school

2 gym teachers

One was an old guy that would scream GET EM WET and put a chair down and watch everyone go in

The other guy was the sophomore football coach on a trajectory to Michigan State and spent that time in the office watching film.

I lucked out and got the football guy

In our dorm at Urbana-Champaign (mid 80s), the bathroom had dividers for the toilets but no doors. WTF?

In my time back before the French and Indian War basic training had a peculiar way to build up the unit. To bring down walls so to speak between the guys the bathroom in the barracks consisted of 4-5 shitters on a wall. No stall, wall or barrier whatsoever. Problematic at first but eventually everyone has to shit.

My high school had half walls dividing the stalls, sans doors. You could see over them if you were sitting on the bowl. Needless to say, I never took a dump there.

I never took a shit in 12 years of public school except for the one week I was on antibiotics and it gave me terrible diarrhea. Of course some dickheads came over to point and laugh.

O'Malley's bar back at UofI had "the throne". The toilet was on a step or two in the middle of the tiny bathroom so it was essentially a throne type situation.

Usually some drunken fool would be sitting there holding court at some point in the evening when you walked in.

The other thing, too, was that the urinal was right next to the door and stupid college kids waiting in line to get in would just hold the door open so anybody pissing was giving a free show to everybody waiting outside.

In middle school (Eisenhower in Rockford) the gym teachers had a big bottle of soap, and would walk around the shower squeezing it out on all us boys. On Friday one of them would always keep saying, "It's Friday, hot soap on Fridays".

I think the last two pages of this thread show that we should be worried about transgendered people in bathrooms if we were able to survive the gym teachers.

This is from a story linked in the JDC thread:

http://www.foxsports.com/college-footba ... ing-042116

I talked about this bit in that thread, but don't want to derail it, so I'll bring it here:

Quote:
The simple truth is this -- if you look like a dude you can use the men's bathroom and if you look like a woman you can use the women's bathroom. That's our societal standard. It has always been our societal standard and it isn't remotely controversial.

Is that the case? I think I remember being taught that bathroom is sex-based (well, "gender based" but that was before "gender" was co-opted to mean "self-identifying special lotus flower"), but maybe I got it wrong? Is this how everyone else actually views it and was taught how other people view it, or is this wishful thinking?

I'd have to imagine that the same people that are worried about a man who looks like a woman would be pretty uncomfortable if it was sex-based. After all, a person that looks like a man walks into her bathroom but then says "It's not a big deal. I was born a woman. This is where I am supposed to go".

I always figured that that was for the unfortunates who tried to "Drink the Wall"@O'Malley's the night before and needed fewer barriers to go try & puke in the can. One my favorite memories was seeing the guys come running in having to puke, not paying attention & then slipping in some other guy's puke.

I swear my own roommate did just that a couple of times. I can still see him bolting out at 9am on a Saturday, coming back 90 seconds later with an "I just got fucked" look on his face as he went for his towel, shampoo & shower shoes.
