Yes. Which is why in his very first season as a Cub, he was dramatically better than he was while with Baltimore. The mound whisperer (Chris Bosio) worked his magic on Arrieta's delivery to simplify it and make it easier to repeat and command his pitches.

My point is that a player being bad and then good isn't completely unheard of. Arrieta's Pitch f/x are very similar to 2010-2012. He just locates better and does not walk a lot of people. His workout / lifestyle helps him with endurance. And it might be unfair to Arrieta in finding previous comps, because outside of Bob Gibson, there may not be many.

Arrieta is a generational talent.

I really have no idea where he's getting the stuff from. Someone brought up Manny in another thread, that may actually be true.

You know you just linked to Pitch f/x data that makes it almost impossible to deny Arrieta is using?

I linked to pitch f/x data that makes it impossible to draw ANY conclusion on Arrieta's supposed PED usage.

Arrieta is a generational talent.

Sandy Koufax became a star when he learned to throw his fastball slower. He'd been in the league for five or six years before he broke through.

What would you consider an example of a sox fan melting down in this thread?

Yeah. Usually it's Cubs fans melting down I April. Makes the inevitable October Cubbies meltdown that much funnier.

In the past I'd agree.
Cubs are the future.
Sox are the passed.

America melts down in every post. Outside of him, there's not much here. The first couple pages show many Cub fans melting down just at the mere possibility of this being brought up. The rest of us are just saying yeah maybe it's possible, who cares?

You're trying too hard to tie any Sox fan posting about the Cubs to some strange definition of "melting down". Relax man.

Who cares??? Every Sox fan that bothers to post in these threads. If they didn't, why bother? Darko is right, this is great fun and it's going to just get more fun as the season goes on.

So you greatly care about Mat Latos, the Angels, abd Robin Ventura.

I do care. I don't deny it either. I listen to and watch Sox games when they don't conflict with Cubs games regularly. Of course, I root for the other team, but I pay attention and watch more games than a lot of Sox "fans" do.

Hell, I'll watch lots of games on MLB channel that don't have the Cubs or Sox on as well. Love the game.

Actually last year he started terribly (a game I was at in Miami) giving up 7 runs in 2/3 of an inning. He was pretty decent most of the season though with a couple other off days. Overall, he is not as good as he was in his prime with the Padres, but still a guy who should be around .500. Maybe even a couple games over. But that is a nice improvement over what they had in that spot of the rotation last year. Hell, it's better than they will get from Danks who will make over 5 times the salary too.

I was looking for a pro wrestler with a BEARD but none of them are as big as Arrieta. Maybe Big John Stud but he was blonde.
