According to Mike Tyson, Eddie Murphy and Rick James, Prince even played basketball in high heels.

"The first time I met him was at a urinal at a nightclub in St. Paul. There he was, and I said, "Hey, what's up?" And he answered, "Life." One word: "life." And I can't say that we went on to be pals. But we did record a lot at Paisley Park, and he became comfortable enough to grace us with his presence, not bejeweled and not dressed up. He'd be wearing maybe his jammies and sweat pants or maybe a pair of jeans and sneakers. He could sort of just hang out. He may have been a little more normal than he would've liked people to know. That's the treasure that we got, to be able to sit in the big atrium where you're taking a break and Prince shuffles by in his slippers and makes some popcorn in the microwave. My sister's a disc jockey, and he would pass by and say, "Tell your sister hi for me." People like to paint him as a reclusive this or that; I think he was genuinely truly, truly shy. But one thing says a lot about him: I was there making a solo record a few years later, and I got a message that said that my friend had just died. I was truly rattled, and the next time I went back into the studio, he had filled it up with balloons. Now I'm gonna cry."

Dear Earth,

I'm pretty well done with Prince now, thanks. I suppose maybe the remainder of the weekend as it's somewhat convenient timing, but after that, let's go back to not thinking about Prince at all. Good? Good.

Your pal,

Don Tiny

Lot's of chatter that state that Prince was a percocet user, aka hillbilly heroin.

You eulogize a pre-Nixon Era TV actor every other week here.

I really loved Prince's music (& women) & I'd never say this on Facebook, but enough already.

I honestly saw two women almost get into a fight @ Jewels :D yesterday & one woman cited her depression over Prince's death as a reason not to fuck with her. Of course, that my wife (who has zero musical rhythm & even less taste) is on the phone & blaring Prince's music around the house is killing me.

At least when that pedophile Michael Jackson died I could laugh heartily at the clowns who wet their pants over his passing. This is a pain in the ass.

I'm sorry he died, and his death reminded me that on my Spotify main list, his music was underrepresented because he didn't allow streaming.

Somehow I don't think I'll have this public weeping when Darryl Hall or Donald Fagen (two of the most influential musicians to me of my pre/early teens) die. The African-American guys are almost all dead - Marvin, Luther, Phillipe Wynne... only Al Green and Stevie Wonder remain.

When Brian Wilson dies, I'll pause for a second and think...man, that sucks.

I find that guy who got run over in street much more disturbing than any pop star OD'ing.

Round the clock coverage of celebrity deaths is ratings gold for major "news" networks. Expect more of the same next time someone else overdoses unless people collectively yawn and ignore CNN's "BREAKING NEWS" pop-up or ticker.

Both Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are immortal, so no worries there.

you won't find a better cover of Purple Rain. The guitar solo is crazy good.

From what I've read, he'd definitely have to rise from the ashes, if you will.

When you spend most of your last years fighting to get your music off YouTube, this is what the record label does as soon as you die:

BTW When Doves Cry is his best song.
