Thought the question was going to be "were the Cubs better before...Schwarber got hurt?" Possibly not...not because Kawasaki is better (actually, he sucks), but because Soler playing full-time might work out better.

Love when Jimmy cant embrace a good team. lol

He is the poster boy for a Cub fan that doesnt know what a really good team looks like.

It's a funny feeling isnt it Jimmy?

I still want to see Trades and upgrades as I am questioning Lackey right now, but plenty of time to see how things go.

I want to see them identify a need and trade Glyber Torres to fill it with an near-All-Star caliber player from a bad team.

Today would be too early if they couldn't trade Soler or Baez during the off-season. Theo pulled the trigger on Shark/Hammel on July 4, so I'd be shooting for them identifying the need in late May and taking June to work out the right deal.

Right now it would be Grey, but I could also see it being another bat if Soler struggles. If Kluber does well but the Indians can't get going as a team, he'd be another option. And there's always Tyson Ross, although i'm not thrilled with him. I don't think it'll be a closer, and I don't know if I'd trade Torres for a closer - maybe McKinney. They can't trade Contreras now, if Montero gets hurt god forbid you'll need him on the 25-man playing meaningful innings.

But I don't think Billy Beane will trade Grey to the Cubs.

It is only 6 games in the season! Let's let it play out for 2 weeks before the bashing, pain and suffering, and Doom and gloom.....

The Russell thought was silly. This kid is pretty amazing when you consider he's just 22. The Castro deal made sense because Russell is a better, much more reliable SS and took over the position and they decided they wanted Zobrist over Castro, as he works the count as they want batters to do and has a high OBP. Plus he's a switch hitter and more versatile. Warren is a nice guy out of the bullpen and good insurance if a starter gets hurt or struggles. Coghlan would be nice to have now that Schwarber is hurt. But they have lots of options including Baez, who will be up soon. Both were/ are good players. But there wasn't sufficient opportunity any longer for them here, with Fowler coming back, Heyward and Zobrist signed and Baez likely to be up most of the season looking for playing time as well.
