This is a good stretch to feed on the bottom of the league. Took 3 of 4 from the Reds and could go 5-6 against the Brewers and Braves. Its very possible the Cubs go into Pittsburgh 20-5, which would be great considering their next 7 are against the Pirates and Nationals. Get as many wins now as they can.

Cubs have a larger run differential +68 than 9 teams have total runs so far this season.

One of the things the Cubs were very good at last season after the break, was beating teams they were supposed to beat quite often. To their credit, that trend has continued thus far in 2016. In the first game of the series on Tuesday, the Brewers will send Jimmy Nelson to the bump and there is no doubt he has been their best starter this season. Not only is he 3-1 (exhaustive work Conns did unearthing that info) but has a very respectable 3.46 ERA. He has 3 of the 4 quality starts collected so far this season by Brewers pitchers. he went 6 innings against both Pittsburgh and Houston and gave up just 2 runs in each of those games. He had a bit more pedestrian outing against the Twins in his last start, going 6 2/3 and surrendering 4 runs. Did deeper though and you find that he has struggled against many of the Cubs hitters. Soler is hitting .333 VS Nelson. Baez .500, Montero .500 Rizzo .308 and Heyward .600. Hendricks, who will face Nelson has the only losing record for a Cubs starter at present at 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA. But his history VS the Brewers is encouraging. He is 4-1 with a 1.45 ERA VS the Brew Crew! So while the Matchup on Wednesday looks about as favorable as it gets, if Hendricks can continue his dominance VS the Brewers Tuesday night, the Cubs can sweep this series.

Wind blowing in, wind chills in the 20s by the end of the game...what a miserable night.

I like the retro MB logo that makes a glove on the Brewers left sleeve.

I think that's from 1982 or "83"?...

Miserable night for the hitters. Cold and wind blowing in. The only run scored by the Brewers should not have scored. The hitter reached on a walk off a 3-2 pitch that the pitch track showed was a strike. Should be a scoreless game. But hopefully the hitters can get it going soon and get the series off to a good start. Hendricks has pitched reasonably well.

Good at bat by Fowler. Battled and made a productive out to tie the game.

A base hit could have really been huge there, but Heyward not quite able to get the ball up the middle. But that inning really got Nelson's pitch count up. May be done, or 1 more inning, then they get to their bullpen.

Fowler and Arrieta lead the way so far, no doubt. Without the wind blowing in as it is, the Sac fly he hit probably would have been a grand slam.

Well what the hell am I supposed to be?

Patience is the key with this outfit this year ... which is difficult to keep in mind considering the prolific scoring potential.

(and also it's HG, ya nutwagon)
