So I'm new at this, I did not punch anybody out  . My son is 11, doing things on his own. He was with 2 friends at a park, all 3 are 5th graders. 2 7th grades, maybe twins, showed up. A short time later the older boys started throwing rocks at the 3 littler ones. Called them (really my son) little white boy fucking assholes and rammed their bikes into him. Our 3 boys left, I don't really know if they said or did anything, I think they were too stunned.

What should they have done and what advice should I be giving my son? Along the block are 4 houses they could have gone to, and 2 live within about a half mile of the park. Should they have punched somebody? Should they have told somebody? Should they have left?

I can't fucking believe this.

Not much you can do. Its possible to track the kids down and find the parents, but even then you probably won't get much success. Although my kid is also 11, I don't let her go to the park by us, not because of kids throwing rocks, but because that's where the high school kids are doing drugs.

Back in my day, a few punches, a headlock and the death grip would have taken care of the situation.

They are just commenting on the passing scene.

From my experience growing up, your son and his friends will have to stand up for themselves for shit like this to stop. You can't be everywhere all the time and either can an authority figure. So yeah, fighting the bullies is probably the best approach.

That's not the way things work anymore. You need to try and reason with the bullies while they pummel you from stem to stern. And if you fight back, you get in trouble for defending yourself. It's the modern way. You shouldn't have provoked them.

Spaulding, also have your son punch any asshole who says this after he beats the bully's ass.

That makes no sense. Anyone who beats a bully's ass wouldn't say that. That's kinda my point.

I think you need a nap.

One of my cousin's kids took a long time to grow to above-average size, for all of K-8 he was the smallest kid in his class. New to middle school, some dumbass bully started picking on him, and made the mistake of a shove-punch. Well, my cousin's kid is well trained at Tai Kwon Do, having trained from the age of 4 with his black belt brother as well as in five or six years of formal classes. And thus, after warning the bully that he knew TKD as his instructor had taught him, he kicked the bully in the jaw and almost knocked him unconscious.

Needless to say, my cousin got called to the school and read the riot act by the principal. To which my cousin told the social justice warrior principal to go fuck himself and asked if the principal would like the affluent suburban police who have nothing else to do summoned the next time there is a problem.

There was never a problem again.

Ran into that same problem. My youngest is a large, but nerdy/happy go lucky kid. Some dumbass thought it'd be a good idea to pick a fight with what he thought was a big soft kid.

His grammar school principal and I had exactly one conversation about CPS' zero tolerance policy.

I would honestly say that ignoring them is the best option. Its not like there is any reason to fight. They were just being pieces of shit. There is no legit beef. The older kids sound like they will be lucky to graduate high school. The hell with wasting your time on them.

First, each side needs to Lawer up.
Second, Interviews on Good Morning America.
Third, Politicians must get involved.
Fourth, some sort of march needs to take place blaming the 1%!
Fifth, T Shirts! Someone needs to make money on this issue.
Sixth, Lawsuit against EA Games, YOUTUBE, Google and Apple. All could have prevented this from happening.

Now all involved have a crutch for the rest of their lives as some shrink will write them a lifetime letter that says 'Due to a traumatic episode in their youth, they are not able to work 40 hours a week and will require the constant companship of their pet wolf."

That should solve it.

this is pretty much my thought as well. unless it becomes a pattern, and these junior high kids keep doing it over and over...you never know who these kids know. and fighting can provoke a bigger problem.

You can stand your ground/ defend yourself without throwing a punch. You gotta be willing to throw a punch though. The kids who did it are probably cowards that will continue picking on them if they don't defend themselves.

This actually worked out in pretty much the best possible way.

1) No one was injured.
2) Seemingly, there will be no long term issue.

Sounds like some bored idiot older kids thought it would be funny to scare your kid and his friends. Unless there is a reason why they would not like your son for some reason, and it is unlikely given they aren't in the same grade and probably barely know each other then this should pretty much be over.

What I was always taught was "never start a fight but you should defend yourself if you feel threatened". If it was a bully in the class that is picking on you every day you can then tell them that they need to show that they won't be picked on. The last thing you want though is your kid charging braveheart style after anyone that does something dumb on the playground.

BRick and umn are offering up the best advice. Let it alone for now, but if it becomes more than just an isolated event, your son and/or his friends are going to have to be ready to fight.

It wasn't going to be an even fight if he responded with aggression as the difference in size between 5th and 7th grade is pretty stark. Sure you stand your ground in some situations, but this one was probably not a good time. I wouldn't give it a second thought unless it happens again. Boys will be boys type stuff that he has to figure out himself.

If some kids did this to my newphew or niece... I would take great pleasure in grabbing those little kids by their necks and throwing them across the playground. Then i would wait there until their parents showed up.

My friend Jerry who died has two daughters who are close to my age. When his younger daughter was around twelve or thirteen, a boy hit her in the face with a stick and really fucked up her eye. Crazy Jerry went over to the kid's house and got the kid and his dad outside. He looked at the kid and said, "I can't beat the shit out of you, so I'm gonna fuck up your old man" and he proceeded to punch the dad. It was sort of like that scene from True Detective with Colin Farrell but not as brutal.
