A guy who planned to run across the sea inside a giant plastic bubble has been thwarted by the Coast Guard, CNN reports. He had already tried and failed two years ago.

In 2014, marathon runner Reza Baluchi popped into his trusty "hydropod"—basically a giant buoyant hamster wheel—and set off on a quest to run across the ocean from Florida to Bermuda to raise money for charity.

Just two days into his journey, Baluchi was stopped by the Coast Guard, after they received reports of "a disoriented man in a bubble off the coast of Miami who was asking for directions to Bermuda." Baluchi first refused to be taken ashore, but put out a distress call three days later. His rescue—which included a helicopter, airplane, and a massive cargo ship—cost taxpayers an estimated $144,000.

When Baluchi announced on his website that he'd be giving the open ocean run another shot, the Guard sent him a letter explaining how unsafe his insane voyage was and asked him to please stay on dry land.

Undeterred, Baluchi bravely stepped out onto the ocean in his hydropod, like the protagonist of a discarded Pixar script. Once again, the Coast Guard reeled him in over the weekend, tweeting that the "adventure runner's voyage ends after he violated a USCG order not to embark on his seagoing journey."

Here's the simple solution: Let him go. Have him put on a GPS chip rec/transmitter, and when he doesn't respond within a certain time frame (>36 hours), then send out a chopper to haul his dead dumb ass out of the shipping lanes. Nobody can run without water. Nobody. Nobody. Noo-bash-dee.

It's stupid to keep rescuing this guy after multiple warnings. Just let the guy kill himself.
