Forsling is supposed to be for real, but I don't think he's played in North America yet. As far as Rockford goes, there are no blue-chippers there, just depth. That was okay when having depth players at a moment's notice was what the situation called for. Now that we need top talent, there's none: all lost to graduation or trades.

Winnipeg has an amazingly loaded farm system now, but all I can say to that is "by now, fuckin' better be." As it happens, the Jets stumbled upon a weird little market inefficiency: while Canadians are the whiniest bitches of all time about playing in Canada for a living, Americans somehow don't seem to mind. They've been drafting American players, and Wheeler/Byfuglien/Trouba have all committed or will commit long-term.

Toews season and playoff series were a disappointment, but he wasn't alone. They took all of the centers out of the game. The bigger fault here was depth at defense. The #4 role of Oduya was never filled. TVR is not there and he's not going to be ready next year either. this team did not have the defense....period.
