The Rockets were not a good representation tonight...losing by 33 without Steph? embarassing

Compare the first round of the NBA playoffs to the first round of the NCAA march madness tournament. It isnt close.

I bet you $1000 that those college teams wouldn't cover against an nba team if they were spotted 50 points.

This is undoubtedly true. And generally, I prefer to watch the best in any given sport over lesser players. But the things that dan bernstein finds so appealing about the NBA- a bunch of "grown ass" men doing their jobs, opening mail, drinking coffee before doing them- is what I find so horrible about it. I have no interest in watching the world's fastest typist or the world's best accountant go about his business either. The emotion and effort in an NCAA tournament game can't be matched by the greatest NBA Finals. And before anyone argues with that, have you ever seen a "grown ass" NBA player crying after a tough loss? No, he just goes about his business and heads to Chicago Cut for a big steak, probably on the house.

You can make arguments about effort in the NBA regular season but not the Finals. All of them are giving everything they've got in both the tourney and the Finals.

Agreed. That was a really awful thought by JORR.

i think they're 'trying' in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds too....i don't think the Rockets lost due to lack of effort, they just suck

I'm not saying the NBA guys don't want to win. But they're certainly not devastated when they lose. You can find a ton of quotes from Barkley suggesting that exact thing. Shit like- and this isn't an exact quote, but he's said similar stuff- "So I lost in the playoffs, I'm still young, rich, and black." That attitude is probably one of the reasons he never won. I do find it funny that Bagels had to resort to the original crying Jordan, the most singular player ever and a guy who probably weeps with emotion when he beats George the Limo Driver in a game of Roshambo.

but what is your point ? so the fact that some podunk from downstate Iowa cries after a loss to Middle Tennesse State makes the game more appealing to you ?

Guys cry every year when they lose in the Finals. There is no doubt that maximum effort is being given. The desperation of 1 game is different than a series.

I've never seen an NBA guy cry after a loss and I assume Bagels looked for a picture of one and all he could come up with was Jordan after finally winning.

Chris Bosh was just falling down crying a few years ago. If you watched video after the end last year I'm sure you will see guys crying.

I don't think it was photoshopped.

It may have been during the Olympics rather than the NBA Finals...

:D

A lack of crying doesn't mean a lack of effort, anyway. The only reason thise little college bitches cry is because the white boy from Iowa realizes he has played his last game and will have to do accounting in a cubicle next to Kirkwood for the rest of his life.

A cursory Google search show Durant cries about almost anything.
