To say it's not likely, but possible, is about the same as saying the chances are slim. I think I have been pretty clear and consistent.

I don't consider it likely, but will not rule out the possibility.

No, you haven't. You started this thread, and within a few posts you said it strikes you as "very likely" that Jake pitches consecutive no hitters. You backtracked thr second people started calling you out for it. So, What side of your ass are you talking out of?

Right......it's not very likely, but it's possible. Pretty simple.

I understand.....I keep refusing to take the bait and commit to a position (or Bet) that would be foolish to take. Sorry to disappoint you, but well.....not really sorry.

So by "possible, if not very likely" you actually mean "possible, but not very likely"?

Cubs fans have become completely unglued with reality. Darkside is long gone and now Steve's tenuous hold on sanity has broken. All it took was a 14-6 start from the Sox.

I sait it's possible, if not very likely. IF NOT VERY LIKELY, as in it's not likely, but possible. God, did you even graduate high school. Is English a 2nd language for you?

Steve, could you explain why the odds against him throwing a no-hitter in his next start are greater than they were in his last start?

You phrased it wrong then.

What you said indicates that it is possible, if not very likely. You should have used the word "but" instead of "if".

Here is a good example.

The White Sox winning the World Series is possible, if not very likely.
The White Sox winning the World Series is possible, but not very likely.

Those two things say different things.

Unglued? I think Cubs fans as a whole are celebrating a great beginning to the 2016 Championship season. The Cubs are Chicago's contenders. The Sox are Chicago's pretenders. You can't have a team with such an obvious flaw as their lackluster offense presents, and not have it exposed before very long. Their bullpen has covered up the weakness to a large degree so far. But that bullpen will falter as they get used regularly and it will cost them. The Cubs have a well balanced team. They have gotten outstanding starting pitching, great offensive production. the bullpen has done well and they have a good bench. Plus, they are a team that will probably add on at the trading deadline, should they identify a position needing to be bolstered. It's just going to be a fun summer on the North side.

There are factors that play into any likelihood of throwing a no-hitter. Weather conditions.....cold temperatures, with the wind blowing in, would be helpful. Pitch count....his last start he threw 119 pitches I believe. that is a bit higher than ideal, so it would be a negative factor. The Brewers are a less explosive offensive club, so that is a positive. But all in all, the chances are not dramatically different. He has thrown 2 no hitters in his last 12 regular season starts now and been on a stretch in that time with an ERA under 1.00. So I think at this point, he goes to the mound every start as a better than average chance to be dominant and have the chance at a no-hitter if his stuff is sharp.

Well, no one else did. He also didn't clarify to newper that he meant otherwise.

The biggest obstacle for Arrieta Wednesday will be the Hebrew Hammer- Ryan Braun. Braun has been outstanding so far this season, in the top 10 in batting average (.364), OBP (.432), OPS- (1.069), Hits, Slugging Pct, as well as RBI (15). He's got 5 HR as well. Besides Braun, Jonathon Lucroy is performing at a typical level for him, batting .297, with a .348 OBP.
