"No" is going to get a lot of knee jerk reaction votes here.

IMO the correct answer is that they are in the middle. They could/should be great, but they are not 'terrible' either.

Almost certainly near the bottom of the league.

Luckily for them there are about 5 organizations that set the bar way low.

Yes, it starts with ownership. I've thought this since high school..they haven't won a damn thing since I was 6 years old..that's a terrible organization.

Clearly worse:
Browns
Raiders
Jaguars
Titans
Bills
Vikings?

They are probably equal to or worse than just about every other organization though

I think an argument could be made for the Titans. They were SOLID for a long time.

I agree with this totally. There are a lot of terrible organizations, such as Cleveland, Cincinnati, LA Raiders, NY Jets, Jacksonville, Buffalo and Minnesota. The Bears have made some bad choices, but as recent as a few years back, this team had HoF players at several positions. Look at those other teams. Outside of having Favre on Minnesota and the Jets and Peterson, how many HoF players have they had? I'm not a football expert, but they certainly seem like a decent organization that just can't get a consistency for making the playoffs.

True.

I guess we need a time frame here to more accurately do this. The Fisher Rams were about equal to the Lovie Bears.

Seemed to always be competitive during the Lovie era. I rate the Bears as mediocre but the arrow is pointing down with what looks like 2 failed 1st round picks in the last two years.

They haven't even made the playoffs since 2002. They've gone through coaches really fast.

Given the sample size available, I totally agree with this. Fire everyone.

I believe Forbes considered undervalued by about $1 billion specifically because of management.

We're talking about the Bears here, not the Sox.

That was then. The reality is the Bears of the present are like the Raiders of the past.

It's a little thing, but the cheapness goes all the way down to the soda they offer (RC Cola).

I think the Sox have to maximize their value as well as anyone in baseball. Baseball operations are not very good. Business operations are excellent.

Not quite. Since the Raiders lost the Super Bowl they are 59-145 with 9 different head coaches.

I am not saying the Bears are great right now or have been great (outside of a season here or there) over the past ~ 10 years, but they have not been the doormat of the league like the Raiders are/were either.

Raiders have to make the playoffs to get off the bottom 5 list. Its in the handbook.

The Bears are an organization that is on Autopilot, we have seen a miserable effort for the past 8 years and in NFL years, thats like 25 years.

Take the Bears ownership and put them in Jacksonville and take Kahn and Co and give them the Bears, you would see jags falter everywhere and the bears flourish.

Browns - No doubt
Raiders - Poorly run, but a team without a home, congrats on being better then them
Jaguars - NO, Jags are in Redneckville, but a much better Organization
Titans -Titans better organization
Bills - Bears lite. Captive audience, loves football, futal efforts.
Vikings? - Vikings so much more well run

Bears are the most popular team in the NFL by all TV and Radio measurements over the past 10 years, which has been a bad run, yet still average big media numbers.

With all that, the #9 valued team?

Tells me this team has inherent worth no matter how it is run.

I do believe George has done a better job and really wants to make them great again! He even knows it isnt in him, the problem is the guy who is the President is a complete Schmuck!

Just because they're not the worst doesn't mean they aren't terrible.
Yes...Browns, Jaguars, Raiders are worse. Bills are trying really hard to be as bad as the Bears and are very close.
Titans are on their way, but they haven't been that bad for as long.
49ers are making a strong push to catch up to the Bears.

The biggest problem is missed potential and how undervalued the Bears are. That's what really makes them "terrible".

The Browns and possibly the Jaguars are the only teams I think you can definitively say are worse organizations. The Jets and Vikings aren't worse. They've been to the playoffs much more often in the past 10 years at least. The Buccs, Bills, and Dolphins would be up there.

You just disagreed with my assessment of the present by bringing up the past.

What have the Vikings done?

The Jets made a few conference title games.
