Kingman would be considered a contact hitter in today's game.

No Italian beef and sausage combo? I wouldn't of survived living back in those times.

Sorry BF
Today in 1976: Mets slugger Dave Kingman crushes a sixth-inning pitch from Cubs hurler Tom Dettore, causing the ball to sail over the left field bleachers at Wrigley Field, across Waveland Avenue, and off the window air-conditioning unit of a building three houses up Kenmore Avenue. Kong's blast, variously estimated at having traveled between 530 and 630 feet, is generally considered the longest homer ever hit at (and out of) Wrigley Field. The Cubs go on to win the game 6-5, but Kingman will hit two more round-trippers the following day, leading the Mets to a 10-8 victory.

Your youtube clip says its from 5/17/79

In the illustrious words of Da Coach, the past is for cowards and losers. What is happening today and what is expected to happen in the near future is much more important. Today, the Cubs are the favorites to win the World Series. Period.

The quote refers to the focus on history that has nothing to do with what is happening now. It's appropriate.

Yes, the Cubs are the favorite to win the World Series in 2016 and that is what matters.

But if you want your last line to resonate to any degree, you should have spelled you're correctly.

Wait a minute ... the video posted was done so on April 14th, but that homerun happened on May 17th.

How the hell is that 'today'?
