Hub has been in rare damage control form this morning on the Score.

So far I've heard the following responses to the calls critical of Pace's drafting:

1. "It's Ok, half the picks in the first round don't work out anyway."

2. "Thirty-One other teams passed on the guy you wanted with the 49th pick. It's not like the Bears missed a first-rounder."

3. "Pace is only in his second year. Give him a break already."

Up yours, Hub.

The only time the Bears won the Super Bowl, they did it through building a foundation of drafting of lineman on both sides of the ball.

They were also well coached and aggressive on both sides of the ball, had the GOAT running back..I like Fangio, wish he was HC..not a believer in Fox or cutler.

Had the GOAT at the end of his career.

Fangio was plenty aggressive with the right pieces in San Francisco. I'm not sold on Fox either. Even with 2 Super Bowl appearances.

Underrated offense, Seacrest. That team could score. They were just so overshadowed by the ridiculous defense that they're thought of as being mediocre, which they absolutely were not.

If there was a real "media critic" Hub would be ripped an asshole 3 times over. Handed the golden spoon, fork and knife and messed it up time after time after time.

I listened this morning. Hub wants callers than blasts them for having an opinion. What the Hell is he doing on the air if he is offended by the "instant grade" given to the Bears Brass?

Instant grades are the only fun thing about a draft.

Otherwise, it's study hall, just a bunch of guys sitting around waiting to hear another guy's name read.

Remember, the guy who fought going online with his product until it failed. Nice call.

Now he owns like 10% of his own name.

Biggie - does Shaw own him now?

Here's one more piece of Hubspeak that I heard:

"You really don't know what you have with these guys until you get them into Hallas Hall."

In other words, it won't be Ryan's fault that his own picks didn't turn out, it's the players.

Actually, it sounded to me like Hub didn't want callers at all. He said, "The lines are jammed, but before we get to those callers who have been waiting patiently, we need to take a short break." And then when he comes back he ignores the calls completely.

They could score. With only one skill player that made the HOF.

I don't know if Pace is right, but building a team around a strong core of lineman on both sides of the ball seems like a good way to go about building a champion.

Using high draft picks on offensive tackles and low ones on guards and centers

They also had a lot of other ingredients that helped them win the championship.

If you're point is the line is important, no one is disagreeing. It's about Pace's selection choices and draft modus operandi.

Floyd was not irreplaceable at 11 if the Bears didn't get him. He was not worth two players at that point.

Pace panicked when GB snatched Spriggs at 48. He went for best available offensive lineman in Whitehead, a tackle who can't play that position in the NFL because of too short of reach. Pace did not think this one all the way through, when the Bears are deep at guard.

I caught 20 minutes of this on my way home, I just can't stomach Gabrial, he's a loser.. I can't take anything he says seriously, it would be like having hawk harrelson grading GMs or Tim Floyd breaking down coaching in the NBA.. Can't do it, just awful.

If Pace wanted to bolster the OL significantly he should have just taken Tunsil at 11 and then gotten his edge rusher in the 2nd.

Perhaps the euphoria of over not seeing Vlad Ducasse trot up to the line and take snaps next year has overwhelmed my senses.

Short of a substance abuse problem, crippling depression, etc. it is hard to imagine someone being less able to manage that business than Hub. The miss on moving to a digital format is mind boggling. Encylopedia Brittanica did a better job.
