he's the best defensive player irrespective of position

http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/70238/defensive-player-of-the-month-white-sox-outfielder-adam-eaton

His entire contract equals one year of Heyward's.

He also does not play for the Cubs, so why is this posted here? if you titled this "Jason Heyward is overrated and overpaid" and then went on to compare him to Adam Eaton, who has outperformed him to date, it would make more sense.

I don't think Heyward is overrated.

I wonder if B&B will talk about this.

If they do it will be framed in the context of being a fluky stretch/small sample. As opposed to Kyle Schwarber hitting three homers in a week, which is evidence of a pending Hall of Fame career.

Okay, I do. I didn't want him, as I liked Denard Span as a FAR cheaper and better hitting alternative. Heyward is an excellent defensive RF (better than Eaton, despite the EARLY season stats that might indicate otherwise now) a very good base runner and works the count well as a batter. But he's just not a very good hitter. Looks like Tarzan, hits like Jane.

They talked about it in transition. You can now take a deep breathe and not throw a shit fit.

I have the same complaint. You'd think there would be more pop from a guy with his build.

All the stats we have suggest that Eaton is better.

There numbers were very very close for 2015. Heyward has been garbage so far, and it kills me. I kept him on my NL only fantasy team.

Well the Blackhawks' threads have been bad the last few years even after three Cups and all of us cheering for the same team.

Really? So the 2015 stats on the two suggest that? No, I don't think so. The 2016 stats for 1 month suggest that. Eaton is a streaky player, who gets hurt frequently. He will go into a hitting funk and get hurt at some point as well. But sure, what he did in April was worthy of mention.

Dennis....the word is spelled Their, not There. Besides that, the defensive numbers on Eaton in CF were nowhere near what Heyward's were as a RF. Eaton was average at best in CF.

Yeah, within individual threads. You can't sort the recent threads without having to sift through tons of pointless Cubs/Sox trolling, mostly from bad dolphin.

Steve, do you know the difference between right field and center field?

Yes...looks like Tarzan, hits like Jane...most of the time. I'll say it again...his swing must be slow or he's weak in the trunk or both...he has a habit of pulling the bat in towards his chest to get it through the zone faster. He looks completely out of sync when he swings ugly like that. When he extends his arms, he hits the living shit out of the ball. I also wonder if it's his eyesight...maybe he needs glasses...seriously.

Congrats to Adam Eaton for his excellent start to this season! Who would I rather have? I don't know. But I'm very happy with Heyward's defense.

Edit: What was I just thinking...I'd take Heyward all day long. He's actually nearly a year younger than Eaton and a relative monster next to him physically. I didn't realize Eaton was only 5'-8" 185. With the proper instruction and diet and exercise regimen Heyward still has the potential, at a relatively young age, to come into his own as a beast at the plate. He still has huge upside and that is why he's pulling the huge interest and contract.

Yes I do Frankie. That's why I have said that Eaton was average at best as a CF, but much better in the 1 month sample size we have so far as a RF. But I don't believe he will prove to be as valuable as Heyward DEFENSIVELY in a full season. but make no mistake, I am not saying Heyward is the better player overall, as I think he has been awful offensively and should be dropped down to 8th in the order, with Zobrist taking over the #2 spot in the order.

That's wrong, as usual. Eaton is a better than average centerfielder and the best rightfielder in the game. And Heyward is a better offensive player than you're giving him credit for being.

You are a smart guy.

I think you could figure out that a thread praising a Sox player in the Cubs section started by me wouldn't be to your liking. I was able to do the same with Kirkwood's thread in the Sox section.

Review recent threads. You will see that the trolling of late is not "mostly from bad dolphin." There are several others who have fun with this type of posting.

Nope. I would put Zobrist in the 2nd spot because he's up to a .250 batting average 9.355 OBP) after hitting .333 in his last 7 games, whereas Heyward is at .211 .317 OBP after hitting just .190 in his last 15 games where he has been killing rally after rally. Remember, I wanted Denard Span rather than Heyward and they are both black in case you forgot.

Heyward is batting .000 over the past week...which was the last 4 home games. He's batting .081 at Home so far and .302 on the road...getting out of Wrigley will be good for him this week.
