I like the new look with the beard, but he doesn't look like Ditka anymore.

Who then does he look like? I couldn't put my figure on it, until Anthony Hopkins popped in my head.

I think he looks a little bit like a young Kris Kringle from A Year Without a Santa Claus

I saw Ditka at Drafttown Friday. He looks younger but he was still orange. My brother speculated that he had some cosmetic surgery and the beard was used to draw attention away from it. I would be sad to hear Ditka did that.

I just don't get the whole beard thing. I had one for a short time in my 20's. Why add age to yourself?
Especially if your already in the "wiping my ass with Tucks" age bracket.

I don't think it adds age automatically. Take Christian Bale. He looks better, that is, more dignified with a beard than without. He was good with that look in "Exodus: Gods and Kings."



When I saw Ditka the last couple of times on ESPN Monday Night, he looked old, particularly in the deck. I think that's what he's trying to hide mostly---a flabby neck.
