I certainly feel like a fool for saying a series against the team's principal competitor in the division and one that it played in the playoffs last year is a big series. Maddon probably feels like a fool for having rearranged his rotation for something so insignificant. I bet your fellow board members who are Cubs fans feel foolish as well having posted 4 pages worth of posts in this thread for such triviality when a full series against the Braves only received 5 pages.

Maybe keeping your Cy Young winning pitcher on his regular rest is why you change your rotation... even Robin did that for Sigh Sale.

Maybe Joe and Robin are equal in managing skill.

With a lefty throwing (Niese) tonight for the Pirates, I am guessing we will see Soler in RF and Bryant in LF, with Baez at 3B. With Szczur leaving last night's game with a right hamstring pull, I doubt he plays tonight.

Obviously, the defense is not as good as it would be with Heyward in RF. But I like Baez at 3rd and Bryant has looked good in the OF. Heyward wasn't likely to play against a lefty anyway, so I'm not going to go reading too much into him missing a 2nd game with the wrist issue. But if he is given Wednesday off too, you start to wonder. Not going to miss his bat.

Surprised Maddon has Soler batting in the #2 spot. I would think Zobrist would be the guy for that spot. Soler swinging at the first pitch and pulling it to hit into a DP was bad situational hitting. A guy like Zobrist probably takes a couple pitches to give Fowler a chance to steal and then hits behind the runner.

Can't figure out why Freese is batting 3rd and McCutcheon 2nd in the Pirates batting order, instead of the other way around? Teams generally bat their best hitter 3rd.

Okay, a productive out by Baez got a run in. Good idea with the bunt attempt. Would have scored a run, advanced a runner and maybe been a hit to boot with his speed.

Soler needed that hit. But he should be on 3rd after Bryant's hit.
