Bryant had the League's highest rookie slugging percentage (.620), while his .422 on-base percentage and 62 total bases were tops among all Major League rookies. He also ranked among League rookie leaders in runs scored (3rd, 19) and hits (4th).

Clearly another Cubs BUST......

Started slow but he's really picked it up:
.305/.394/.505

That's with cutting down his strikeout rate to 21% from 30%.

What a stud

Sitting as the #1 defensive 3rd baseman by WAR right now. So much for being a butcher.

It was probably those 10 or so games he had to play in the minors to work on his defense!

It appears worked! I think I saw there was an added benefit where we get another year of service time for him too. Everything is coming up Cubbies! (That's sarcasm, just so no one misses it)

or so much for defensive WAR

Is Eaton the best RF in the game?

I don't actually think Bryant is the best defensive 3rd base in the game, but I do think he is above average. For a year I listened to how he would be a butcher, and that has not been the case.

Eaton likely is a top 5 defensive RF, he was an average to slightly below average CF transitioning to RF. The question with him moving to RF was could his bat support it. And to his credit, it has so far this year.

Yeah, Baez was so brutal last night at third.

I was one of the few that said Bryant was going to be fine at 3rd base last season, while JORR and many others claimed he was an awful 3B and would be in the outfield before long. He is at least average at 3B, better than average probably. But Baez is just better there and Bryant is better in the outfield than Soler. Would you rather have Baez and his defense and bat in the lineup, or Soler? That is really what it comes down to. With Schwarber likely back in LF next season, Bryant will probably play far less in the outfield. but for now, I like Baez at 3B and Bryant in LF.

He's actually hitting better on the road right now (.323 2HR 13 RBI) than at home (.267 2HR and 4 RBI) The sample size is greater on the road, where he has had just over twice the at-bats. But the fact he is hitting so well on the road is encouraging, after having splits last year that greatly favored games at the Shrine.

The most impressive thing about his career so far is he's playing at an All-Star level with a drinking problem.

Maybe the booze allows him to focus more?

Bryant is now the fWAR leader for NL position players at 3.9. He's essentially tied with the leading 3B in Donaldson and Machado who have 4.0.

.278/.367/.567

He's kept his batting average nearly identical to last year (.278 vs .275) while possessing a more normalized BABIP (.304 to .378).

Most impressively he's cut his K-rate by 8%.

My money is on him having a decent career.

Given that he continues to improve, when do we start talking about him breaking the non-steroid home run record? He's on pace for 50 already.

Impossible to distinguish between PED users and non-PED users these days. Last guy to hit 50 without PEDs was Cecil Fielder, unless triple cheeseburgers count as PEDs:

https://youtu.be/563LW8Fy5RQ

Anything after 1990: assume the dude has/had some PED assistance. Except Griffey JR.

Clearly another in the long line of Cub BUSTS.. but I will wait for JORR, BRICK, GD, PITTMIKE, AMERICA and The SCOUT to confirm before it's official. FRANK RIP must be spinning in his grave.

It is a pretty long line...Baez, Alcantara, Hendricks, Lake, Russell...then you add the free agent busts of Jackson, Lester, Montero, Ross and suddenly the gild starts to fall off that lilly
