If the AL is the buzzsaw you describe it as, help me understand why Zimmermann and Latos are a combined 9-0. Not saying I want to throw 250 in the ring, but the chasm isnt nearly as wide as being described.

He is overstating the disparity, but the fact is the worst six teams in the game are in the NL.

If we are simply going by W/L right now, 3 of the 4 worst teams are in the AL.

Because they aren't constantly playing the shitty six.

Arrietta's vs the AL
2016: 1-0 0.00 ERA
2015: 4-1 with a 2.95 ERA (2 Complete Games)
2014: 2-0 2.16 ERA

At some point, you're going to have to just admit defeat on this. I admire that you've kept it up this long though.

I remember being laughed at for suggesting it was possible that Quintana become a solid #2 guy in the rotation.

Good call on your part. He was not a heavily touted guy. His first game was when Hawk went off on Wegner (WHAT IN THEE HELL ARE YOU DOIN, WEGNER) and the funny thing is Stone and Hawk going on about how a guy like Quintana might be sent back down and he may have just lost his only chance to get a ML Win.

I'm still not convinced. He's probably having his best year. He's avoided making that terrible pitch more this season. There were a lot of rockets last night though. And don't forget he was in the process of blowing a game when he was rescued by a freak triple play. For you to suggest he is "tougher" than Sale is laughable.

He doesn't get results like Sale and his stuff is far better than Danks'.

I have it on good authority that he only made one bad pitch last night and it was hit for a homerun.

He made three bad pitches.

Papi just missed one leading off the second.

Chris Young just missed one in the 7th.

There is a totally different vibe there this year. Players seem to be more together and the defense is so much better than it has been in recent years. Quintana has never looked better.

Great game played by the Sox last night. Excellent baseball in all phases. This year is going to be fun.

His fastball was still 93-94 in the seventh last night.

last year his fastball averaged 1.9mph faster than Danks. Notches go by 2mph increments so, he was one notch above Danks.

Ventura was in the process of blowing the game when Quintana was rescued by a triple play. He was out of gas.

Quintana has a much different temperament then Sale. He is more the quite assassin, while Sale is more the fierce competitor type.

Agreed. He let him face two batters too many. But Quintana's stamina limitations are part of who he is as a pitcher.

Also, I'm sure Hatchetman understands there is more to "stuff" than just raw fastball velocity. Regardless, a 2 mph average difference is significant.

Bad defense and bad bullpens will kill a team early

Quintana has thrown more innings since beginning of 2014 (see above).

Sale is top 3 in "stuff"
Quintana is top 300 in "stuff"
Yet the results are not all that different.

That's one out that doesn't have to be covered by Zach Duke or Jake Petricka.

The birthday shout out to Murph on the big board board was nice.

Friday is Italian Heritage night jimmypasta. Still taking tickets on the bandwagon.

Rumor has it the members of the 26th St Crew not currently incarcerated will be in attendance as well.

Afterparty at the Old Neighborhood Club then maybe a nightcap at Rocky's.

How many times has Sale been on the DL in his career? There's a false narrative about his imagined fragility.

Well if he's not on the DL why isn't he making as many starts as Quintana? 7 in the past two years.
