Because the Sox are taking precautions with their best arm. That's something you don't do with a guy you plucked off the scrap heap.

Stud pitchers don't need to be babied like that. Do the Cubs skip Arrieta so protect his arm?

No. And they lose in the playoffs.

I didn't say any such thing. Do you think I was suggesting not starting Arrieta against the Mets? I just think it's not a bad idea to skip some starts here and there if you can afford to do so. In the case of the Cubs lasts season, they really couldn't. They barely squeaked in with Arrieta making all his starts.

I called it. And it was nasty. Papi just turned and walked back to the dugout shaking his head like " what was I supposed to do with that?"

Well, they beat the Pirates as well as the Cardinals, so they won more in the playoffs than they lost last year and they improved the team since. The Sox did a nice job of avoiding the losing in the playoffs last year by losing enough (76-86) in the regular season so as to avoid the playoffs.....again.

Im just fuckin around

But the Cubs had that WC clinched extremely early, they absolutely could have rested him. In fact I believe they rearranged the rotation in early Sep, so he lined up for WC game.

The division was in play. But to say they squeaked in is silly. They "won" the 2nd Wild Card by 13 games

Yeah, but they didn't want to play in that one-game shot if they didn't have to. I've bashed them enough for failing to try for three seasons. I can't blame them for actually trying the way you're supposed to.

The Cubs were 4-5 overall in the playoffs last year. Seriously, how do you have this much trouble with simple numbers? Don't you have to figure out the square footage of rooms multiple times a day?

HOLD ON......barely squeeked in?? The Pirates got the 1st Wild Card with a 98-64 record and the Cubs were right behind them for the 2nd Wild Card at 97-65. The next closest teams were the Giants who were 84-78 12 GAMES BEHIND the Cubs. The next closest were the Nationals at 83-79. Squeeked in??? Try again champ.

They had to win a play-in game. Do you think they wanted to do that, sport?

Being 12 games ahead of the next best team trying to qualify for the post-season is not squeeking into the playoffs. No, of course they didn't want to have to play a Wild Card game and the 97 wins they had would have won any other division in baseball. Then they defeated those teams (Pirates and Cardinals) that had 98 and 100 regular season wins. But winning the Wild Card constituted qualifying for the playoffs and they beat out the Giants by 12 full games, so your post was ridiculous.

The 2015 Cubs were a 3rd place team. If it wasn't for a rule that was changed 3 years ago, they would have been a 97 win team playing golf in October.

And if the Queen had balls she would be King. In 1945 there were no playoffs other than the World Series, where the Cubs lost to the Tigers in the Fall Classic. Today there are 3 divisions in each league as well as 2 Wild Card teams. How many wild card teams have won World Series' now? But if a team goes 76-86 as the Sox did last year, they need not worry about wild card games, because they have woefully underachieved and missed any chance for the post-season.

Third best record in Baseball in 2015. better than any team in any division other than the NL Central and more importantly currently with the best record in the game and looking to go up 6 games in their division. :P

I think its obvious that the 2015 White Sox were just a year early. Or are the 2016 Sox a year early? Are the Sox early at all or just on time? Are they late? I think I've gone mad!

Saying these things in the 7th inning of a 3-run gam is the type of fate-tempting even the non superstitious baseball fans avoid. Especially with your propensity for being wrong, I would hold off on these types of statements.

Didn't the Angels want Quintana instead of Hector Santiago when the trade was made?

Thanks Rick Hahn!

Cant say that. You dont know what would have happened. They may have gone balls out to win the division and thrown Arrieta on short rest
