Hector, for his career. has a higher save percentage with a lower career WHIP and ERA than Bruce Sutter's career. Rondon was GREAT last season, and looks to have started this season in the same fashion.

tl;dr Steve is racist.

I like Rondon a lot but let's not get crazy.

He's not Bruce Sutter in his prime.

Yeah, that's fair enough. It's like Jon Lester for me...his results are actually pretty darn good, but every time he pitches I feel on edge. It rarely feels like a great start. More like a guy who managed to wiggle out of more problems than Patrick Kane on a brewery tour.

Yankees are bad and will be so for next 2-3 years.

Would love to see Andrew Miller in blue pinstripes. Unfortunately, he'll require a haul so not worth the cost.

I never watched Sutter.

But Rondon in 2015 compares very favorably to Sutter's two best years according to the stats. And Those two seasons of Sutter were very far apart from each other. Sutter seemed to be good but not great during many of his seasons.

So...like Rondon?

If Sutter only had to throw 65 innings a year, nobody would have touched him. His stuff was nasty.

He won a Cy Young, as a reliever, for a sub-.500 team. That's a better indication of his game relative to the rest of the league than whatever stats smart people come up with.

Right Sutter in that era was not a 9th inning only guy.

Ahhhh, June 23, 1984. My nephew was born 4 days later. I eschewed the Gregorian calendar after that day and embraced BSG and ASG designations.

The reason that game was so great was because of how awesome Bruce Sutter was. He hit 2....2 home runs off the guy. Punched a hole in the ceiling that day and I was laying on the floor.

La Stella and Kalish in the line up instead of Baez?

Fire Maddon.

Yea, this one is a loss. First really bad move of the season for Maddon. Kalish should start zero games and Baez is hot.

I'm composed but I was excited for the game tonight. Now I don't really care. I might not even drink.

I was typing that before your post. Not aimed at you.

We'll see what happens. Seems like when CSFMB is unhappy with the lineup it works anyway.

There should be no ill will aimed at La Stella though. Guy is a fuckin pro

Play Kalish on a Sunday rest day. Not on the 1st day of a series against the Cubs eventual NLCS opponent.

Unless!!!!!!! Maddon is hiding Baez until October. Genius. Slow playing his hand.

Extend Maddon.

Is this the pitching matchup that most favors the Nats?

Maybe Joe wants a fresh Baez for the weekend (that sounded weird)

Not far-fetched. He probably looooooves when he's called "Maddon the Mad Scientist"

Ross has the best ERA amongst their starters to go along with a 3-0 record and Hendricks is our #5, so I think it's safe to say they are the favorites tonight. I am not crazy about LaStella and Kalish in place of Baez and Soler. Especially Baez, who has been hot. Never sit a hot bat.

I feel a 1-0 or 2-1 game the way Ross an Hendricks is pitching so far.... Ross seems to be dialed in!

Hendricks is going to have an inning where he gives up a few. That's just who he is. Cubs have two minor leaguers in the lineup and this Ross guy looks dominant. Cubs need a miracle to win tonight.

Ross throws a lot of strikes. Less than 30 pitches through 2 innings (I think 27). it's not because the Cub hitters had been swinging at bad pitches (before that last one by Addison Russell) but just Ross pounding the strike zone.

Cross posted...

Tonite is the first time in MLB history that four first place teams have played in the same city on the same day.
