Cubs now tied for 2nd highest run differential in modern era through 27 games. Only 1902 Pirates were better.

Was that a Honus Wagner led squad?

Put this in the game thread, but fits nicely here as well...

Fun stat: Cubs run differential is more than the Yankees have scored all year.

Wagner was good that year, but Ginger Beaumont was better.

Edit: Actually Wagner was better (per WAR). I just noticed that on Baseball Reference, when you look up a team, they show a neat graphic with the top 12 players by WAR. I checked out the 1975 Reds and was surprised to see Cesar Geronimo (someone I considered the weakest link in the starting lineup) actually having a higher WAR than Concepcion, Griffey, and Perez.

It seems rather silly to compare teams 100 years apart. It's like comparing someone in the modern NBA to George Mikan.
