No, it's bad. The name can't be the highlight. Have to have a posting theme.

The name blows but the thought is there.

Forget about Arrieta being on 'roids...I'd check Zobrist and Ross!

What a start to the season.

Todays game is not going to be a cake walk, with Gio Gonzalez off to a great start on the season at 2-1 with a 1.15 ERA! But Jason Hammel will face him and Jason is also off to another great early season run, at 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA. Hammel has had good fortune in his career against the Nationals. In 11 starts against Washington, he is 9-0 with a 3.01 ERA. However, the Cubs have had some difficulty against lefties this season, not hitting very well against them and Rizzo is 1-14 lifetime VS Gonzalez. But if the Cubs manage to pull this one out, with Arrieta going Sunday and the Padres coming up next, the win streak (currently at 5) could get big fun.

Yeah, they have to lose at some point, and I think today's the day. Hope I'm wrong.

If the weather is like yesterday and the wind blowing out again....that will take a special effort from the pitchers to accomplish. It's funny how before this series began, many were content with the idea of a split. I will admit, that while I was hoping for 3, because of the pitching matchups in the first 2, I would have been okay with a split. But after taking the first 2, which featured the toughest pitching matchups, I'm feeling a bit greedy and starting to wonder how long the winning streak can go if they can win this one today? Arrieta on Sunday....Padres up next.

The problem with this hot start is that it's baseball. The best teams can win about 60 percent of the time. The Cubs are currently winning almost 80 percent of the games to start the season. Clearly they have to come back to the pack at some point. As great as it is that they are dominating other than winning the division nothing matters until the playoffs. They could win 100 to 120 games and still lose in the first round of the playoffs.

I think everyone realizes that. Doesn't mean you can't be impressed or excited about what they're doing.

How about a 2002 Oakland A's-like 20 game win streak first? That sure would be fun. Winning a title is obviously the only really important thing. But a really long winning streak would just be big fun. Even better than a magician or petting zoo.

i'd actually be a little disappointed with a split, but if they're going to drop one, this would be the one that would be ok with me. gotta win tomorrow either way, i think. because a sweep would be even sweeter.

I'd never thought of it, but since last year's All-Star break, Arrieta has more no-hitters than losses. Thank you, Jordan Bernfield.

And the only loss was a no hitter thrown against the Cubs.

If you looked at the pitching matchups before this series, this game would probably the one you felt 2nd best about going into it. But after beating Ross, who had their staff's best ERA (0.79 going into the start) with our 5th starter (Hendricks) pitching a gem and then beating Schurzer, with Lackey throwing another quality start, we go to a game where we have one of our top 3 starters going. Gonzalez has a slightly better ERA than Hammel and certainly Washington having dropped the first 2 and facing Arrieta tomorrow, will be in keen focus to win today's game. But maybe all that just puts more pressure on them to win today and works in the Cubs favor? Should be another good game.

Daniel Murphy scratched from the game today. Illness the reason.

Wind is blowing in today.

Well, at least Heyward made Gonzalez throw 9 pitches before striking out. But why is he still in the #2 spot in the order? Batting .209 and .185 in his last 7 games before striking out today. Especially with Gonzalez being a lefty and Heyward hitting just .219 (though that would be an improvement over his current average) against Gonzalez.

Heyward is killing scoring chances like Derrick Lee did late in his career. Approaching the Mendoza line now.

When Rizzo drops a pop-up you have to wonder if it's just not gonna be your day. But just down 1 run and plenty of chances to turn it around still.

Rizzo has not looked good defensively this year so far, why would Hamel bat? He's @ 99 pitches..pinch hit for him..easy decision.

Probably a poor choice of words. Very insensitive imagery... especially from you. Yeah. Not a good look.
