Why the hell Maddon has used either Patton or Wood in this game, is beyond me. They really need a good lefty out of the pen.

I'd rather watch Kalish/Soler in RF.

Maybe we can use the designated hitter in games in AL ballparks for Heyward and let the pitcher hit.

I don't want to hear about his great defense either. The minors are full of guys who can field and not hit. 20-something mil for a guy that can't hit water if you threw him in the lake......fffffuuuuccckk this!

Having a guy scuffling like he is in the #2 spot in the order just makes it so much tougher to put a rally together. Not saying he sucks altogether, but he needs to be dropped in the order until be starts hitting.

To live action....bases loaded 1 out with Ross up. Does Joe try a squeeze? Does he swing away? He can't hit Baez because they don't have another catcher.

I do love the fight in this team! They are not giving up! We could still see Heyward , Bryant and Rizzo in the ninth yet if they can get guys on!

I'm positive Joe won't be swinging away.

You can use the designated hitter for any one position on the field. It is not limited to the pitcher.

Russell hasn't been hitting well this year, but he's had as many key hits as anyone.

Yeah, but this one "had eyes". Looks like a line drive in the box score.

Of course I am not serious about using a DH for the RF rather than the P. Can you even imagine the PR issues with having your near 200 million dollar player not hitting? But the DH is not truly restricted to use for the pitcher only. When it was first instituted, the Royals talked about having Ken Brett (George's brother ) a very good hitting southpaw bat in games and use the DH for a weaker hitting infielder. I can't remember if they did it or not though.

It is restricted to the pitcher only.
Rule 6.10.
Stop.
