Sure. A team can make statements early in the season as well as later. This team wants to compete and show they are up to the task.

I'm still happy with a split.

With the back of the rotation to start the series, a split might not have been any great disappointment. But after winning the first 2, it would have been disappointing. I like what has happened a whole lot better. I was hoping for 3, but dang.....a sweep sure would be nice now.

It's early but this team is really showing that they know how to win. Hopefully they save some of this for October.

Hopefully, they even add on at the trade deadline. A couple good bullpen arm to go along with Warren, Strop and Rondon. Maybe Neil Ramirez will still be good again. Unknown at this point really. But the lefties (Wood, Richard) are not guys that instill great confidence. Cahill and Grimm are okay, but a great lefty would be really nice to add to the mix. If they want to add a top of the rotation starter as a rental at the deadline, that would be nice too. I say a rental, because otherwise they would have to pay too heavily with prospects like Contreras Almora and Torrez. Don't want to morgate the future for 1 improved shot at a title. YEARS of sustained success and contention is preferable.

SomeGuy, you realize ES has a viagra-less induced permanent stiffy? It's going to be a long year, and I am a Cubs fan. I may need to quit this place just to stay sane.

Went to the game yesterday, energy in that place was great. First Cubs game I've been to in 8 years, liked the improvements in the park and the surrounding area.

You tell me, I wouldn't know. I'm sure you loved it in jail. hell, for a lil Caller Bob like you jail is basically Club Med huh? Just taking or having to take whatever cums along. Me, I prefer life on the outside, on the North Shore as a normal heterosexual male. But nice to hear you're back to wearing men's clothing again anyway.

Okay, when I'm here day after day for years after various people tried to get rid of me in various ways, you want to believe that crap, go ahead and believe it. Not going to happen just as the golden age of Cubs baseball is beginning.

Get this shit the fuck outta here.

Copy and pasting another retread baseball article can't buy you respect. Neither can big iron on the hip or a fist full of shitty posts. Now go put on that new dress you stole from Goodwill and gum some cock on Wentworth and Garfield, it's gonna be a hot Summer.

It's going to be a great summer, with the Cubs dominating and me enjoying lots of games. I suspect you (Some burrito) will be back in jail before long taking it up your ass with glee and not able to post for a while again. But I'll be here all season. Count on it.

Well, Heyward is still in the 2nd slot in the order today. Not sure if Maddon is hesitant to move him down for fear it might affect his confidence, or he really believes he will snap out of it quickly. Or with Arrieta going, maybe he doesn't think it will matter? But Heyward is 0-12 lifetime VS Roark, so is seems especially easy to question why he's not moved down today.

Fowler CF
Heyward RF
Bryant 3B
Rizzo 1B
Zobrist 2B
Soler RF
Russell SS
Federowicz C
Arrieta P

Arrieta looks to improve to 7-0 as the Cubs try to sweep the Nationals and go to 24-6, which would give them a .800 winning pct. Right hander Tanner Roark (2-2 2.35 ERA) will oppose him. Weather should be better today for the hitters. Kris Bryant is 3-5 (.600) VS Roark with a HR, so maybe he has a good day again. Murphy is back in the lineup for the Nats. Neil Ramirez is back from bereavement leave and Spencer Patton was optioned back to AAA.
