Why the hostility?

My feelings on it are exactly the same as RPB's, except I'm not a Cub fan. It's funny to me that this is such a controversial opinion.

It's not a controversy if it didn't cause them to lose the game. They won. Are you saying you would rather have your team lose the game pitching to Harper then win the game by not pitching to him? What sense does that make?

That's exactly right. My view is that any legal way to win a game is what should be done if it helps your chances to win. I would have no problem with a team hacking DeAndre Jordan, either. He should learn to shoot free throws if he doesn't like it... just as the Nationals should get someone better to protect Harper if they don't like it. But the Nats never said they didn't like it.

Did we get an apology out of Waving Wendell? He hasn't had much to do this season...yet has fucked up multiple situations already.

Ranks in the top five of the dumbest sports thoughts I've ever read on here.

If you don't like a guy in the lineup getting walked every time he goes to the plate, get him some fucking protection.

Best post on this topic I've seen.

Face it Farvio, Maddon out managed dusty. If dusty were smart he'd have better protection for Harper.

Maddon made the right move all day long.

Going back to Friday, Harper has gone 12 plate appearances without an official at-bat...is that a record?

I remember Sammy Sosa getting walked a lot intentionally, as teams were not going t let Sammy beat them. Bonds was obviously the guy who was given more intentional passes than anyone when he was mashing like no other. But I can't recall a guy getting passed as many times in a series before. But the strategy paid off. Don't let one guy beat you that can be avoided. Zimmerman has to be pissed. That is a slap in the face, to pass a guy over and over, just to get to him instead. Even when it meant loading the bases.
Great job by Cahill, Warren, Grimm and Wood today. Guys (except Wood) pitching multiple innings and allowing Joe Maddon to keep Strop and Rondon out of it. Loved that it was Baez that hit the HR. 7 tough games VS the Pirates and Nationals and they took them all. Amazing start to a season.

How many lob did Zimmerman have this series? 16? More? It's a crazy number.

Very true. Jake wasn't good today. He gave up 3 runs through 5, just awful.

Just 2 of the runs were earned.

It was actually 14 JUST TODAY which is a new MLB record. The previous record was 12, shared by David Ortiz (2009) Trot Nixon (2003) Todd Helton (1998) and our own Glenn Beckert (1972).
