Can't say quite yet, but he's struggling to put batters away and the walks are piling up. The BABIP luck which keeps his ERA low is not always going to be there, 90% LOB is not going to hold.

Cubs fans will get extemely angry at someone suggesting this, Arrieta is their prize, but all of his peripherals suggest a correction. The more opponents realize they can extend AB's against him and drive him out after 5 IP the more games like today will be common.

We'll revisit this in a couple weeks, will Lester be the Cubs "ace" by then? Without Arrieta playing at the level Cubs fans grew accustomed to do the Cubs even have an ace?

It's getting more obvious by the day that he's lucky to be hiding in the NL.

But that luck is now running out.

If so, what a historic run. A pleasure to watch; eager to see when he starts his next one.

If he is done the next one does not start. Thanks for playing. Try again.

I have to admit I'm a bit worried about him. He's put up a lot of innings the last two years. He hasn't looked great the last two starts, at least not like he has. Any sane fan shouldn't expect him to continue on this historic run. It has to end. My hope is, Maddon will protect him the rest of the season and he'll have a full tank come post season, if the Cub make it. All good things end.

You know you have had a great run when you give up 3 runs in a game and people are worried you are done

2005 has never ended for the Sock fans. Ask them. They will tell you.

Actually, the Nationals had several players that had a good history against Arrieta. Not just Harper, who was .333 but lesser guys like Danny Espinoza who was hitting .600 with a HR against Jake. Some others had only 2-4 at bats but were .500 in those at bats. They could be a team he just doesn't match up all that well with. If they meet in the NLCS, I'll worry about it then. They still won the game and swept the series.

Arrieta will continue to pitch well and impress Cubs fans and brass until 2 games after Theo inks him to an 8 year $300 million extension.
