A lovely weekend for baseball, albeit on the cooler side.

The Cubs will have Hammel, Arrieta and Lester going in this series, the 3 starters with the best early season results, all with ERA's under 2.00 . Francisco Liriano (lefty, 3-1 3.60 ERA) has been tough on the Cubs and I expect he will present a challenge for the Cubs to get back to their winning ways in this afternoon's contest. He still throws 92-93 and left handed hitters really struggle against Liriano. Soler gets another start and I understand Maddon wanting to start right handed hitters against Liriano, but Soler did not seem to have his timing down at all against any of the pitchers on Wednesday, when he played both games in the double header against San Diego. Maybe he should be getting his timing back at AAA, where the results are not as important? Plus, in Soler's career, he actually has hit righties better than lefties so far. Heyward is still in the#2 hole, so apparently the idea of having Fowler and Zobrist, 2 of the highest OBP guys at the top of the order getting on base for Bryant and Rizzo must seem unfair for opposing teams in Maddon's eyes. So he is keeping Heyward in the #2 slot to better keep rallies under control.

FYI, the clown show at WSCR haven't flipped the switch on the Cubs game. Or TuneIn has worked around it. Idk. Either way you can listen online via TuneIn.

Credit where it's due....Heyward has reached 3 times, with a hit and 2 walks and Soler has reached in 2 of 3 trips and then Ross hits a 3 run bomb. Meanwhile Liriano who had a 1.38 ERA in Wrigley gives up 8 runs in 5 innings. Weird things happening. Fortunately, they have worked in the Cubs favor.

Nevermind. Hammel might blow this entire lead.

They do better when you are negative. Strikeout, then a double play to end the inning.

Just checking in now ... do we need the .gif, or shall we wait and hope for more?

I think you need a tardy slip, signed by Epstein's mother. After Ross' 3 run Homer was the time for it.

Dragged a bit at the end, but a win is a win. Hammel remains undefeated and the Cubs now 26-8. Good day for the Cubs hitters for the most part.

Kasper & JD sleep walking through this game.

Both Bryant & Zobrist took strike 3 for ball 4. I knew that Bucs PC was going to have words with the ump,but Kasper had no clue until about 4 minutes later when a production assistant probably said something in his headphone.

Rizzo saving Arrieta's ass so far. He isn't allowed to give up another run this game. Wanna talk to the media about your next contract already and how you won't give us a hometown discount? Better start pitching like an ace again then, fuck face.

Wow, you are hard on Jake. That's one tough Buc lineup.

Easy there. He's been historically good. Giving up runs is a normal thing for MLB pitchers. Man expectations are off the charts....
