Miniseries on AMC. Based on a John Le Carre novel, who specializes in spy thrillers. Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are the leads. It's definitely intriguing. Hiddleston plays the night manager of a hotel in Cairo and tries to protect a mistress of a wealthy middle Eastern kid who is into arms dealing with a british magnate played by Laurie.

For all the intrigue it's played at a low key tone, but my interest is intact. i am looking forward to the story developing.

Watched the first episode and I'm definitely invested in the characters. Olivia Colman is always terrific.

the second episode creates a bigger picture, but with any Le Carre story you really need to pay attention to keep up with the story and characters. it jumps around a lot.

needless to say, the stakes are really raised by the end of this episode. great stuff.

15 minutes into episode 1. I'm gonna like this.

Just saw the lady from Broadchurch. She's great.

Yep.

Last episode had Roper and Pine/Birch getting closer. Both Ropers actually, though not sure if Jed is technically a Roper.

The MI-6 stuff is interesting as well.

Good show.

Episode 5 brings Pine back to his beginning and sets up an interesting finale.

I've enjoyed this miniseries.

Isn't there a Wayward Pines 2? I rely on you to keep me up to date on this stuff.

I enjoyed the finale.

The ease with which Roper brought Andrew into his inner circle was a bit unbelievable but I enjoyed how it all played out.

I gotta say that by the end, I was pretty "meh" about the whole thing...well-shot and acted, but I thought the story itself and how it played out was really cliché and predictable. Maybe not all LeCarre's fault, though, as the miniseries deviated quite a bit from the plot of the book as it went on.

Yeah they went for the happy ending instead of the original ending.

Agreed, but they had 6 episodes in which to tell the story, I feel that they checked all the appropriate boxes in that respect...plus "Cork" was always up in Pines business so that added some tension.

Also, once again, women ruin everything.
