Jake has only given up 5 earned runs in his last 56 or so innings against the Pirates I think they said. Counting today. I'll take it.

Just tuning in ... has there been shitty umpiring or are the Pirates being bitches?

Bit of both.

Strikezone was a bit wonky in the first couple innings... I think it has been fine since.

Couple of close ball/strike calls that could've went the Pirates way.

The ump squeezed Locke before the Rizzo HR. He also threw the Pirates pitching coach out of the game.

That strike three to Harrison looked low.

Coach had a right to be upset, they did probably get screwed before RIzzos HR.

But the catcher and Harrison are just being bitches. Stop whining and play the game.

This Arrieta guy is pretty okay.

I don't think he's 7 year contract okay, but pretty okay nonetheless.

It has been low for both teams.

As long as it is a consistent strike zone for both teams, it is hard to bitch.

If they don't sign him long term before he gets to free agency at age 32, they're going to have to let him walk. Can't give 7/250 to a pitcher that old nor would I want them to.

Never know 'til you get there, but this far removed from it, sounds fine to me.

That...and the fact that Arrieta has given up earned runs in his last two starts. Fowler's OBP in the last seven games is all the way down to .400.

Things are looking tough.

8-1/2 game lead after playing just 35 games. Might win the division by 39 games!

When the Pirates only scored two in the 4th due to the fortunate DP off of Arrieta's foot, I knew they were toast. Then Heyward gets a lucky single, Bryant walks on two questionable calls, Rizzo puts a pop fly into the jet stream, and then more borderline calls against Locke, resulting in the pitching coach getting ejected. It was over at that point. The Pirates are mentally fucked against the Cubs.
