Pretty sure it was Odor that wasn't okay with the slide, unless the MLB has that thing from the Naked Gun that was on Reggie Jackson on Odor and they pressed the "kill Joey Bats" button.

It wasn't just Glass Joe on the receiving end of a beating from Odor. Donaldson got a knuckle sandwich as well.

Ditmar, Doby, Slaughter fight

The first-place White Sox, six up in the loss column,21 were hosting the second-place Yankees, with Billy Pierce facing Art Ditmar. In the home first, Bubba Phillips struck out, Nellie Fox walked, and Minnie Minoso singled. After Sherm Lollar flied out, Ditmar threw a wild pitch, advancing both runners.

Ditmar then unleashed a pitch toward Larry Doby's head, which resulted in a 28-minute bench-clearing fight after which Doby, Walt Dropo, Billy Martin, and Enos Slaughter—but not Ditmar—were ejected.22

Doby punched out Ditmar and both Bill Skowron and Martin attacked Doby. Dropo pulled Skowron off, and Slaughter then attacked Dropo. Slaughter’s uniform was nearly torn off him. Manager Al Lopez argued that Ditmar also should banished, but the umpires dismissed this by explaining Doby was the “aggressor.”23 After play was resumed, Jim Rivera’s two-run shot gave the Sox the lead in second, but the Yankees rallied, scoring three in the fifth to take a 4–2 lead and knock out Pierce.

Lollar laced a solo home run in the eighth, but the Sox drew no closer. The White Sox soon lost their huge lead over the Yankees and by June 30 were in second place.

An irate Chuck Comiskey arranged a post-game meeting involving AL president Will Harridge, the umpires, and managers of both clubs. He argued, “Why wasn’t Ditmar thrown out? All Doby said to him was: ‘Why don’t you watch where you’re throwing?’ Then Ditmar said, ‘Go (chase) yourself.’ Doby said: ‘I’ll chase you right now.’ Ditmar turned around and Doby hit him. This is a joke. Are there two sets of rules in the league? I’d like amenity.”24

Harridge, who had been at the game, levied no suspensions, but did fine Doby, Martin, and Slaughter $150 and Dropo and Ditmar $100.

After smacking Bautista, Odor went on to punch Donaldson, while Bautista disappeared into the crowd. I think it's fair to assume that Bautista didn't want any more of that.

That's exactly what it looks like. Odor was killing folks and Joey Bats ran away after getting smoked.

Odor gave an Order 66 on the Blue Jays.

from what i saw beltre latched onto bautista pretty good and he's no slouch. joey didn't try hard either but lots of doots standing around too who didn't just get blasted. bats just walked off without help.

plus its a standard slide...that odor dude is a bitch.

This was about the bat flip in October, not the slide.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. Odor didn't get cheated out there. Phased or not, Bautista proved he's a lover not a fighter.

yeah...a standard double play breakup slide. he didn't go cleats up, he was perfectly in the baseline. how everyone is taught to do it starting in adolescent aged baseball.

you throw at and pick a fight with bautista his last AB in the last game you face the bluejays this season? yeah real tough. you had 25 innings prior to do it. bunch of twats if you ask me.

Baseball players are the biggest pussies in all of the major sports. Bunch of tough-talking, HGH-taking bitches. Go drink a protein shake get your chest waxed, nobody wants to see your fake tough-guy attitude while 40 other people jump in and hold you back.

This is the part that does not make sense to me, and the game was still very much in question.

If you want to go after him, go after him earlier in the series or at least earlier in this game.

Odor's combination of a right-cross followed by a left-glove slap was wicked good.

Of the three punches Ryan threw only one landed with any potential damage. Ventura then gets the best of Ryan. When it's over Ryan's jersey needed to be buttoned and he needed a few minutes to regain his composure.

Bautista was out by a mile and slid late.

Yeah, the Ryan-Ventura thing is thought of all wrong. Ryan gave Ventura noogies then Ventura nearly choked Ryan to death. There's a great pic of Ryan turning purple. Too bad Robin didn't finish the job.

That is false. MLB changed the rules regarding slides to break up double plays. That slide was not within the rules. Not even close.






I'm not justifying any of it, just explaining what I believe provoked it.

Ryan had control early, but Robin overtook him. Ryan got his ass kicked. As it has been correctly described, Ryan's jersey was almost off, and he was turning purple.
