It happens in every presidential election.

Which state did Paul Ryan swing? Sarah Palin? Joe Biden?

Wisconsin was relatively Purple-ish until President Romney picked Paul Ryan--then it moved quickly into the Blue column.

Palin?

I know.

My refutation was to Edward saying it happened every election. It hasn't happened in the last 2.

Nah, they carried Maryland in 1972.

What in there makes you think that? Kasich said strongly in a recent interview with CNN that is not running as a indy

Scott Walker or Gingrich are my picks.

Sarah Palin as Secretary of State because she can see Russia from her house. :D

I think a big part of Trump's problem is convincing someone who actually has political capital to run as his VP. You could be progressing amongst the Republicans quite well, be a Senator or Governor, and then you are faced with going into bed with Trump... on the one hand you have a shot to be VP, but on the other, you run and lose as VP, and for every future race your opponent gets to call you a Trumpian.

Gingrich is 73 and holds no office or has any apparent plan to try to do so, has a reputation as an "outsider" (for an insider).

This election though I don't think VP really matters at all -- opinions are so strong on Clinton and Trump that a nice VP isn't really going to change people's minds, I wouldn't think.

I know Hillary can't choose him for her VP but just make 2016 full on stupid and send Bill out there to go up against Newt at the Vice Presidential debate.

Actually, I think Bill could run as Vice President. The 22nd Amendment reads as follows: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once." He wouldn't be elected to the office of President.

Yeah he could totally run as VP, but his health is not good right now. He doesn't look too good.

Bill will be the de facto VP while the party chooses some dipshit Wall Street waterboy like Rahm Emanuel or Cory Booker.

Bill is the kind of guy who would be very happy to run with Hillary as her vp, and suddenly 8 months after the election, she suffers a brain hemmorage (of the 9mm variety) and he's president again.

Remember that time Obama was mumblin' and stumblin' through a press conference, then had to a catch a flight, so he turned the rest of it over to Bill Clinton? It was disturbingly comfortable to have him back up there. It was surreal that it even went down the way it did.

I don't think it's interpreted that way though.

It's funny how concerns about age seem to have gone away. In the past a guy Trumps age (70) couldnt even consider picking a 73 yr old for VP. As recently as McCain this was brought up. Maybe it's just that this whole election cycle has been so crazy that age is too far down the list to be discussed.

John Kasich would be the strongest Republican choice for VP of the last 3 elections!

Yeah, this year there's less concern, but I've always found it weird that the candidates for president are so old. Beyond just the health/death thing, there's no way someone at that age is as sharp as someone who is 40 or 50. I suppose they have more life experience, but there has to be some diminishing returns there. You'd think we would want a president to be in his peak intellectual years.
