You know what is great? The Cubs only needed 1/3 of their prospects to become the best team in baseball.

the next 4 months of cubs baseball is basically meaningless. the only things that matter right now is keeping the top 3 pitchers healthy and not losing key position players to long term injuries

Now add Zobrist to the core group this year. Contreras will be added later this season and Almora will be added later this year, but truly be a core member next year. Contreras will also not be a true core member until next season.

I thought Soler was in the Core Four? Crazy that we have so many prospects that you can't remember.

Schwarber wasn't there, and Rizzo normally didn't count because he was already on the big league team like future cornerstone Starlin Castro.

It doesn't really matter though. Bryant makes up for all the other failures.

I dont see what you're saying with that JORR quote. So yea, it was the 4 without Alcantara.

Alcantara was never in it. That was CSFMB White Sox fans trying to spin it.

Young Matches had high hopes for Berryhill. I was hurt when it didn't work out, but then a roided-up Rick Wilkins made me believe in Cub backstops again.

Baez has already contributed in post season. Almora is still tbd. Bryant is awesome and Soler still has a shot to work out.

But after the season of the Schwarber draft and Russell acquisition the core changed.

And no reason to exclude Rizzo. He was the first step in this whole thing

Its not rewriting history. Im not denying the original Bryant-Almora-Baez-Soler group. Im just saying the core improved. We agree.

Baez hit a playoff series winning homerun against the Cardinals.
