After reading up on her a bit, this sounds exactly like the type of high maintenance deep-thinking nut job I'd totally avoid.

I saw Juno, it was pretty good. The chick who played Juno was pretty funny as the quirky outsider girl. 3 out of 4 stars, solid matinee rating.

I don't know... I kinda like Maury. I'm just in the holiday spirit, and since Woodridge Ryan insists I have Bob Golic's mullet - I'm just rolling with it.

The chick in Juno was el creepo in "Hard Candy" btw... She didn't even seem as though she was acting.

Ahhhh, to have a mullet again...

Hadn't seen that movie but the description makes it sound like they made an R rated version of NBC dateline's to catch a predator show.

With apologies to sucker's playground's friend who got jobbed by that psycho bitch with the name of the devil...

she is a good goddamn writer.

JUNO review:

First of all, Jennifer Gardner is the glue of this picture. She is absolutely OUTSTANDING in the role of a mother who can only be one through adoption. The girl who plays Juno, Ellen Page, is also incredibly convincing (almost to a fault), and Jason Bateman is great as the 35+ year old who is still stuck in 1993, thinking he's going to be a rock star but really is a sell out commercial scorer. So I guess to begin this review, I'd say the cast is what makes this film aesthetically auspicious. But there are things in the plot that were also pretty keen that could have been mundane. There are complications with relationships not only between Juno and her "boyfriend", Juno and herself, and Juno and the adoptive parents; the parents are caught in their own conflict; and Juno's stepmother is also somewhat dealing with her own problems though that's not really expanded on.

The film's pace is a gift delivered with a bow from Jason Reitman who has his father's touch. Though there are some contrived, applause-inducing moments that are unnecessary, the movie never feels like it's trying to overwhelm you with anything.

Couple things that kept this from a perfect score: The soundtrack. Shat right from the bowels of any artsy coffeehouse with guys and girls with underdeveloped (purposely) voices singing to acoustic guitars, I think if I heard the soundtrack by itself I would think I was stuck in Bohemian Portland, Oregon, surrounded by bearded guys with horn rimmed glasses, leather knapsacks, boots and their leatherbound collections of Jung and Robert Anton Wilson stuck under their arms.

Second, the teenage lingo. This is subjective, but it just was annoying at times and reminded me again (like I needed it) why I hate teenagers, especially when I was one.

Third, and finally: Juno's taste in stuff was just a little too much like her author's. Juno is 16. Diablo is almost 30. There's no way a 16 year old knows and appreciates Dario Argento, The Stooges, AND knows the Thundercats. I'm sorry, I just don't buy it. Her dad also didn't seem the type who would have raised her on any of that stuff either. But hey if you can find me a room full of kids that age who DO appreciate all that stuff legitimately then I'll withdraw this as a criticism.

Overall, the movie was fantastic and I give it a solid :D :D :D :) out of :D :D :D :D

W_Z, I can sum up the movie in one word: Quirky

I enjoyed the performances (although Cena is BIG TIME getting type cast at this juncture) - and I agree, the soundtrack was like nails on the chalkboard.

I really enjoyed Justin Bateman's character. He's usually and over the top guy in most of his flicks as of late, and I found his performance understated and totally believable.

You left off Juno's parents and her best friend - who all turned in very solid performances.

The movie's 'quirky' and that's what sets it apart from all the other formulaic stuff out there.

Good thing nobody from the Message Board saw me and my 13 year old daughter's SEVEN friends there. I felt like a frickin' bus driver afterwards. The cell phones and text messaging through the movie was starting to piss me off. I almost went William Foster on 'em.

I havent seen Juno yet, but if you like Ellen Page than you will love this movie she was in called "Hard Candy". If you watch that movie you will think twice about picking up chicks on the internet! :)

I meant in picking up chicks on the net in general... not meaning I want to be on the next episode of Dateline NBC with Chris Hanson staring at me! :)

well, the movie is about a dude who meets an underage girl off the internet, and bad things happen (no spoilers, but it's a really shitty movie that you can pretty much predict from the start). i just thought your comment was a little weird when you consider the content of the story.

Hard Candy sucked. The premise was good - but it was kind of goofy and far fetched when you actually watched it.

Well it looks like "Juno" has gone from a minor hit to a major one, with a possibility of Diablo not only being a first time produced screenwriter but also an Oscar nominated one...

this does have me a bit jealous...she's almost exactly my age, blew up quick and now has projects out the ass going once the strike is over. What am I doing...oy. :x

She also has an interesting and provocative "story" being a former stripper, and she's pretty hot so she's got a pretty good next 5 years I'd say before Hollywood forgets about her. If she's smart she'll wait till after that to bite the hands that feed her.

This was on CNN.com this morning:

W Z, it's pretty clear you need to do two things:

A) Become a male stripper

B) Change your name.

C) Get a blog, such as this: http://diablocody.blogspot.com/

We need suggestions, if Diablo Cody is former Chicagoan Brook Busey-Hunt's new name, then we need to get you one.

Here's a few I'll throw out there, a little Mexican Cajun love:

Chalupa Gajan

La Concha Tuya-Mayes

Mierda Abramowitz

Chinga tu Madre-Dunbar

Poonta Muncie

Baboso Hebert
