To say that either Arrieta or Sale is objectively better than the other right now is not possible. One is 9-0 with a sloghtly higher ERA, and the other is 8-0 with a slightly lower ERA. They're both basically untouchable right now. If you include last year, Arrieta is better.

I'm a BIGFAN of sloghtly.

Huge fan.

Like the hugest.

It's true. Arrieta hasn't been sharp, despite his record. Any objective baseball fan can see that.

Ya, I'd take Sale right now.

However come playoff time gimme Arrieta. Sale's demeanor is too fragile to handle high pressure situations like the playoffs. Gets too pissy and shaken for my tastes.

He has been getting it done with his B stuff. That's good to see to be honest.

It is a great thing to see Arrieta win when he isn't at his best.

It could mean a number of things:
1. He's off his roids, ruh roh
2. He's getting old and losing his stuff, ruh roh
3. He's on borrowed time, ruh roh
4. He's hurt, RIP Cubs

Or it could mean none of those things. Ruh roh.

My guess is

5. Maddon is so genius that he had Jake pitch a little bit worse to let the youngsters know that things don't come this easy.*

*Even though they do for this team.

Why would Arrieta use his A++ stuff all season long? Save it for the post-season.

His B stuff is better than 99% of the league.

He'll pitch 45 innings in the postseason and give up 2 ER.

Remember folks, low energy IMU trolling typically begets a fall. Arrieta is all but confirmed for Tommy John surgery in the next month.

You're claiming a guy who is 8-0 with a 1.3 ERA and a no-hitter is due for TJS. If that's true, he has to be the undisputed best pitcher in the history of baseball.

I don't think most Cub fans think he needs Tommy John's, no.

To be fair most Cubs fans are so attached to Jake Arrieta you'd think he crawled out of their snatch.

What does that even mean?

You're in the twilight of a mediocre trolling career.

It means Cubs fans, most of whom are grown ass men, are literally in love with another man they have never met simply because he pitches for the Cubs. When someone says something mean about the object of their love they lash out, like a mother lashes out against someone who threatens her offspring.

Yet, you make up cockamamie theories about the same man you've never met because he pitches for the Cub. When some one says something good about said pitcher, you lash out like they insulted your sainted mother.

Hmmm, I wish the Cubs capitalized on this apparent love affair with Arrieta. Cubs fans are all about lining Ricketts pocket per America, y'know.

If only Cubs marketing perhaps created a section in shitty area of the ballpark where Cubs fans could pay a 200% mark-up to get a t-$2 shirt and wave a 8x11 piece of paper whenever Arrieta is on the mound!!!
