There's a way that literate rock has to be done and it isn't easy to pull it off. This Hold Steady guy comes off like Rubber Ed from Stephen King's Apt Pupil.

I saw them a few years back at a street fest and they were pretty weak overall. Bass playing Kirkwood brother was a mess. I was devastated.

Hold Steady has some tunes I really dig.

Take this for what its worth but I was drinking at a bar one time/talking to the bartender and somehow this video got brought up. The bartender said that he knew the big dude who laid out Danzig and that the whole thing started because the big dude's band was that night's opener but their equipment arrived late. He went around asking all the other bands if they wouldn't mind dropping one song off their set list so that his band could play a short one. The other bands were cool with it, but Danzing was a total jackass and bit off more than he could chew.

Cris? Yeah, he was a mess....during the 90s....early 2000s.....sobered up in jail. Saw them three times, he was not with the band the last time (at NIU)....Jesus, I'm old.
