Not really. I want the Sox to lose, but can't deny that Chris Sale is a top 10 pitcher in Baseball. He can dominate pretty much any team when he's on. The Sox are by no means a great team and I expect them to miss the playoffs. But they will be slightly above .500 and are a pretty good team. Good enough to trick some hopeful fans that they might actually contend, though they will not.

Why do you root for the White Sox to lose?

That seems weird.

You literally just described a contender before stating they won't contend.

Quintana and Hammel are the best pitchers.

Arietta has lasted only 5 inning in 3 of his 6 starts since the no hitter.

Although I did hear the media applauding a streak of starting pitchers lasting 5 innings as if it was some significant accomplishment.

No, I described a pretender. You apparently can't differentiate between a contender and a pretender.

The Cubs won every one of those starts......But if your point is that perhaps Jake pitched too deep into ballgames too early in the season, I think that may have some merit. He'll settle back into his groove again soon. That he can keep winning games when he's far from his best, is pretty nice though.

No, I described a pretender. You apparently can't differentiate between a contender and a pretender.

The end result of not making the playoffs, as you're predicting, does not mean you were never a contender. It means that out of the x amount of contenders, you got bested.

The White Sox are a contender. And I think they have a good chance at making the postseason. You are bitter. You aren't objective. The White Sox are still currently in first place...and that is without arguably their best hitter even getting hot yet. It is reasonable to think players like Abreu and Rodon will improve as the season goes on. It is reasonable to think Sale and Quintana will continue being stud pitchers. It is reasonable to think that, especially in a weak AL Central, the Sox front office will make a deadline move to improve the club.

Nah. The White Sox are pretenders. They had a good start to the season, but it was just fools gold. You see now that they have dropped 5 straight series' that it was a façade. They will settle in around .500......slightly above, but to think they are a true contender is foolish. If you think that, you probably think the Tigers are contenders too. They will fight the Sox for third place.

You know nothing about the AL Central. The White Sox will compete for the division. They will DEFINITELY compete for the wild card.

Sure I do. I think Cleveland and KC will battle for the division and the Sox and Tigers will battle it out for 3rd place and the Sox will not make it to the playoffs.

Gotta love two Cubs fans, one an unrepentant racist asshole with no self awareness and the other a narcissist with serious social developmental disorders (aka The Spectrum), bitching at each other in the Sox forum about who's pointless PREDICTIONS will come true. REALLY DOING GOD'S WORK, BOYS. I'm sure whoever is closer to being right wins a really special fucking prize.

But...plus one point to me understanding what a message board is used for!

Funny coming from the kid that sat down at the bar with us and stayed silent for like two hours. Also...the kid that moves every 6 months around the U.S. because he cannot keep a job nor a network of family and friends.

Sure, sure...I'm the one with social disorders.

At some level it's a "takes one to know one" observation.

I know it doesn't feel good to have someone write it about you publically, and I know for a fact you've long suspected it about yourself. But hey you've taken friendly banter in the baseball forums to this dark, personal place so whatever, reap whatever you sow. I'm not the one still pounding my head against The Great Wall of Steve in desperate struggle to prove how little I have in common with him. Only one person seriously responds to him anymore.... and it's you.

The "I know you are but what am I" defense is not going to work. I don't care what you say about me, whatever impression you got from my ill-advised impulse to drive 30 miles out of town to meet some Internet people isn't very meaningful. There's a reason I haven't dipped my toe back in that pool.

Saving him for the post season. Sale has the advantage of not having to worry about playing in the post season.
