I know its not necessarily a craft beer per say, but I had a couple of Longboard Lagers from Kona Brewing Co. last night that I really enjoyed.

Find some trading partners out east.

Lets revisit this in August. I'm headed out there myself and plan on bringing a bunch back. We should do a CSFMB beer tasting!

Drinking some Stone Delicious IPA. No surprise, it tastes great. Still like their other stuff better, but it is... delicious.

Beer traders are great - got some PseudoSue and other TG specials headed my way for some Pipeworks brews.

Also have some Lunch coming soon for a local beer that they chose.

I went to the new Forbidden Root brewpub last night. A lot of stuff made with botanicals, ginger, celery root, etc. They have an imperial called Heavy Petal that is made with magnolia and pecan. I wanted to order the 6-4 Impala but they were out of it. It's made with juniper berry. Gin and juice, get it? The real beer guy I was with liked the cherry amaro. I'm not sure what it was called. I don't think they're bottling anything yet. But you beer snobs should check this place out.

Why trade for Lunch when get that here? Also, that's not even their best beer that hits distribution. Another One is much better, IRGO.

I agree. I also think their pale ale, Mo, is better than Lunch.

All things considered, though, I no longer rank any Maine Beer Company brews in the top tier of American craft beer.

Isn't is expensive to ship a 6 pack of bottles? Better be a good beer.

I think I am going to start a new venture. I am going to contact all of these craft breweries. I will be seeking their excess beer stock that they cannot bottle. I will then assign a clever lot number and bottle it and ship it for free at a discount. Probably should advertise on the score. I wonder who they could have read that in an appropriately quiet, serious and deliberate voice?

Quite simply that I have never had the fortune of finding it at any of my local places.

So for one bottle of Crystal Lake Brewing barrel aged stout, they will ship me 3 Lunch that they are getting fresh from MBC.

For me, I'm fine trading if it is something I haven't found here or can't get here. That's how I got PsuedoSue and Pliny.

Don't need to go to the city to get great beer. Did a suburban brewery hop on Saturday and hit up Noon Whistle in Lombard, Buckledown in Lyons, Imperial Oak in Willow Springs, Alter in Downers Grove, and Solemn Oath in Naperville. Thought about hitting up Urban Legend in Westmont but stopped for lunch instead.

I made my trek up to Grand Rapids this past weekend for KBS week, and stopped at a bunch of great places along the way and the way back.

On my way up:
Three Floyds
Livery Brewery (in Benton Harbor)
New Holland (In Holland)

In Grand Rapids:
Founders
Grand Rapids Brewing
Hopcat
Brewery Vivant
B.O.B.'s Brewery

On my way home:
Bells
Paw Paw Brewing (in Paw Paw Michigan)
Greenbush Brewery (in Sawyer Michigan)

My favorite stop that I would recommend is Greenbush Brewing in Sawyer. This place was great and about 90 minutes from the Chicago-area. Great beer and great BBQ. Grand Rapids was fantastic as usual. If you've never made a trip up there, I would highly recommend. There's so many great spots all over the city.

Went to Piece Pizza and Haymarket before going to Thalia Hall to see Craig Finn and Titus Andronicus last night. Many good beers on tap at Thalia as well along with the bar in their basement (The Punchroom?). Piece for me had the best brews.

The wife and I have been there and I really like their beer, but unfortunately whenever I buy it around here the bottles are over carbonated and it's nothing but foam for 15 minutes.

I bought a six-pack of their porter from the brewery. I'll report back when I crack one open.

I liked it, we were on the floor standing stage right, in front of the lower box. Place got shaking with the mosh pit and pogo'ing. Acoustics were great considering the diversity of the acts. Titus is a punk band and Craig Finn more of an indie Elvis Costello type

I went out for the Founder's KBS release last night. It ain't quite what it used to be. I was at the Grafton and they obviously expected much more interest. You had to buy tickets for the beer, but the waitress came around at one point and said there was more if we wanted it. I think you could still buy one when I left at 10:30.

Also, if any of you guys ever tries Founder's Mango Magnifico, let me know what you think. A very strange beer.

Did they have any CBS? That's even better than the KBS.
