Point that finger at yourself spmack!

I do see a similarity in the men that Dan McNeil likes though:

ImageImage

What do they have in common besides the tu tu? Mac's agent is Wanny's agent, and his dad is Brett's boss. Hmmm.... Could this be why Mac is going up North? Will we read about this in Penthouse Letters? Intriguing!

With all due respect, Mac has repeatedly shown himself to be a fair weather fan. His all things Sox became all things Brewers last year, much to the dismay of Darkside. And now the beloved are done, and he goes and roots for the Packers.
Surprised? Not me. Bummed....again? Yup.
Cmon Mac. Pick a team and love them with all your heart. Stick it out.

Having worked with Danny Mac at both the Score and 1000,I can tell you he's a great guy, I am and shall remain a huge Fan of MJH and nothing will change that. Danny rooting for the 'Mustard and Relish' is no surprise and it even amuses me, but as someone who grew up during the Halas/Lombardi era, I had two Packer Pennants sewn together and I wiped my feet on them every night when I got home. Childish? Perhaps, but it was in the blood. I will NEVER root for Green Bay unless the Bears need 'help' from them like in 1988 when GB beat the Vikes to help the Bears take the NFC Central.
The old expression 'I ROOT FOR TWO TEAMS, BEARS AND WHOMEVER IS PLAYING THE PACKERS!' applies here. As much as I hope New England loses in the playoffs, the only team I would root for them to beat is the Packers should those two meet in Glendale(gosh forbid!).
Lastly however, I would fight to the death for Mac's right to pull for the guys in those Barf Green and Urine Yellow unis! Same for him as the loyal Sox Fan he is,to pull for the Brew Crew over the Cubs if he likes!

i believe the point he was making is that the green and gold are his adopted colors for this year's playoffs. though meaningless, im sure he loved seeing all those blocked punts and urlachers pick6 2 weeks ago just as much as the rest of us. besides, being on the field at lambeau and surrounded by toothless inbreds, it will be a much easier weekend if he at least pretends to root for the pack.

i myself would like to see the packers win the NFC too, but mainly because i hate tony romo, TO, and anything and everything cowboys

Grob, I get your point.
It is, in this Bears fan's perspective, much worse to go for the Packers then for the Brewers. I mean, I get why he was "rooting" for the Brewers, cause he's a nutty Sox fan. But, rooting for the Pack is inexcusable for a town with only one football team.
But that's Mac. He'll say what he's gotta to rile us up. Maybe I should be more frustrated that he tried to get listeners all fired up by bullshitting about being a Pack supporter than I am over his (most likely false) Packer love.

I'M in the minority as well and root for the Packers.I'm a huge Brett Favre fan and the Packer experience is second to none in any sport. Everything from Lambeau, the Packer hall of fame, the food, the people must be sampled in one's lifetime to appericate the game of football. My first Packer experience left me speechless on how to tailgate and how the city of Green Bay opens it's arms to the people and it really is like a College GAME DAY atmosphere..I was hooked.

I'm sure both Mac and Les will agree that there is nothing like Lambeau on gameday..I also Root for the Red Wings as many know so I might not be the best example of what it means to be a Chicago fan.

Slap, I do agree with your Lambeau setiments. My intense dislike for the Packers, and to a lesser extent their fans, does not preclude me from being cognizant of the excellence of Brett Favre, Lambeau, and the likes. I appreciate good football no matter where it comes from. This is one reason I enjoyed the Pats run, even though they are the new "Evil Empire". It was great watching them roll over everyone.
I just could never root, like actually wish for a Packer win. It's just not something I am capable of.
I would sooner castrate myself with a rusty spoon than root for the Red Wings though.

Slap and Dark, I also agree that Lambeau is the best Stadium in the NFL,when the Packers re-did it,they did not have to move any Home Games to Madison, etc , and yes the tailgating is top notch!
I have been there close to 50 times and saw Kevin Butler 'stick them' with a last second field goal in,saw Brian Robinson perhaps with #34's help from above reject a Longwell field goal in 1999, and even saw them LOSE two Home playoff games for the only times ever. The Packers organization is class, and every drive I make up there is fun. BUT I still can't root for the Packers!

This was one of my more favorite 'Lambeau Moments'

D. McNeil, as you so trademarkfully put it, is in the business of getting listeners to listen. He is far from stupid. He knows that those that talk about the show listen to the show.
Does he say some outrageous things to stir us up? Yeah, it's his job. It's why he is behind the mic instead of a moron like me.

Last I checked the Packers are not the Bears. I could not care less what they do, win or lose. I could not care even less what other people choose to do.

Just out of curiousity, which teams do you folks hope make the playoffs?

For me it's simple:

I hope New England destroys the Packers in the Super Bowl.

I hate Washington and the Giants. I could care less about Seattle, as far as I'm concerned, the drippy state of Washington could be considered another Canadian province. Tampa Bay sucks. And I cannot stand Terrell Owens or Jerry Jones. So I'm a Packer backer for the playoffs. Plus if they make it to the Super Bowl, Bears fans can take solace in the fact that we swept the NFC Champs.

New England is easy - I want them to go 19-0 and shut up the 72 Dolphins.

This argument, sadly, trumps the one I made earlier about watching good football.

Thank you Spaulding. That's why I don't get into the Cubs / Sox garbage. I'm a Sox fan. I don't hate the Cubs...they're just another team.

btw... Brian Billick should have been fired for losing to the winless Dolphins. I was very depressed after the Fins got their sole victory. Fuckin' Billick douchebag mother fucker. Offensive genius that consistently had the shittiest quarterback play (Dilfer, Grbac, Boller and McNair) and passing game despite having one of the game's premier offensive tackles in Jonathon Ogden. And he never even gave Derek Anderson a legit shot. How did that one work out in '07? 29 TD passes for DAnderson.

I loathe the NFC East.
I want to see the Pats win and win huge...by like 30 points. I want the game over in the 2nd quarter.

I'd take Tampa and Jacksonville though. That could be an interesting game.

agreed doug...NFC east can bite me.

as far as the game being over in the 2nd quarter, that only happened one time in super bowl history my friend....and the patriots were on the losing end of that one

No shit Sherlock. When did I say he wasn't. It would have been better if he were fired immediately after the Miami game in my world. Let one of the Ryan boys run the show for a game or two.

not true...
Washington was up 35-10 on Denver in 1988.
49'ers were up 27-3 on Denver in 1990
Dallas was up 28-10 on the Bills in 1993.

Bears were only up 23-3...so, they weren't even the largest margin.
