Here's my top 5 (post Dunston era)

1) Starlin Castro -- Could be an all time great, possible HOFer.
2) Ryan Theriot -- Underrated scrappy player... should be a Cubs ambassador.
3) Ricky Gutierez (?) - I can't spell his name, but the man could lay it down for the team. Total class team player.
4) Ronny Cedeno - He was a guy who could stand between 2nd and 3rd base and do stuff sometimes.
5) Addison Russell -- Time will tell but when you are named after a road next to the stadium, it seems pretty promising.

Honorable Mentions: Neifi Perez, Mark Derosa's one game at SS, Ben Zobrist (matter of time before he fills in at SS.)

I don't see Jose Vizcaino, Rey Sanchez, Jose Hernandez or little Mike Fontenot on your list.

And most improbable of all, Blauser gets no love.

What gives?

WOW, Starlin, Ryan, Ricky, Ronny? Going to take Javy right now over that mess of Defensive lapses. Starlin had that dazzling play ability, but he had the concentration of a kid in Jr.. league, the other guys were steady at best. Cedeno showed a nice arm, but the mess above is the list of ordinary players that are interchangeable...maybe except Starlin, who had higher highs and lower lows! Not a good combo for Captain of the IF!

Bye the end of the season, I will be happy to put Addy on top of that list and leave him for the next 8-10 years.

Drafted him instead of Doc Gooden, because he had the better arm!

I think you are a little confused.

The Cubs drafted Shawon Dunston 1-1 in 1982.
The Mets drafted Gooden 1-5 in the same draft

Ivan DeJesus was signed not drafted by the Dodgers in 1969...

On January 11, 1977: DeJesus was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers with Jeff Albert (minors) and Bill Buckner to the Chicago Cubs for Mike Garman and Rick Monday.

You're right, it was Dunston I was thinking of. He had the better arm. Just a gun. Never became quite the player many thought he would, but pretty good. He sure made playing 1st base a bit more challenging. The best thing about Dejesus, was he brought Sandberg and Bowa in a trade with the Phillies. That was his best contribution.

There isn't a sound argument for putting Russell over Starlin for at least a couple more seasons. You all still don't understand how solid Starlin was...especially in his first couple years with the club.
