I give Frank as much shit as anyone here, but I can guarantee you I'd never be so insecure that I had to ban him when he talks back.

Nixon was one of the worst presidents ever. I find it funny how much the left hates him. He gave them more avenues to regulate our lives than any president in history and they've taken full advantage of it. I loathe Richard E Nixon.

EPA, Wage and Price Controls, Affirmative Action, the War on Drugs, Sevenfold increase in the welfare state, etc

Quote:

He implemented the first significant federal affirmative action program.

He dramatically increased spending on federal employee salaries.

He oversaw the first large-scale integration of public schools in the South (something the crackers where I grew up were none too happy about).

He proposed a guaranteed annual wage (aka a “negative income tax”).

He advocated comprehensive national health insurance (single payer) for all Americans.

He imposed wage and price controls in times of economic crisis. This wasn’t a terribly good idea, but it was the furthest thing from a conservative idea. Truth is, it was positively socialist.

He indexed Social Security for inflation and created Supplemental Security Income.

He created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Office of Minority Business Enterprise.

He appointed four Supreme Court Justices. Three of them voted with the majority in Roe v. Wade.

Like I said, one of the worst presidents ever. He laid the foundation for the house of shitshow we have now. Thanks, Dick.

Modern Liberalism has no definition, IMO... nor does modern Conservatism. They are both a hodge-podge of nonsense.

"Power Corrupts" Lord Acton style liberalism has been dead almost as long as Jimmy Pasta.

I should have included modern conservatism in there, as well.

Neither is a hodge-podge of nonsense. Both are statist ideologies with the goal of subjagating the populace to their beliefs. Neither care about the individual. They only care about using the state to force the citizens to live how the elite think they should live. All the while using crony-capitalism to enrich their buddies who then funnel money back to them. It's all pretty simple. In pure capitalism, the rich become powerful. In socialism, the powerful become rich. Our economy is large enough to have a mix of both. The disappearing middle class foots the bill for both.

I'm probably too tired to get too deep here, so I'll just say that I agree, in general. I do frequently argue with those who believe there is some principled and constant definition to either one. I would argue that there isn't. There are moments in time in which we can define either one, but the contemporary definitions of either are merely a reflection of what modern-day "Conservatives" or "Liberals" value. And in today's climate, they are both ideologies that are addicted to oligarchical values that promote concentrated wealth and the assistance of the state to make sure that that concentrated wealth gets a good ROI to the detriment of everyone else.

Like I always have said, more than happy to be on the other said of any argument, stance or viewpoint that Baby Mac has.

I would be pissed at everyone too if my gig in life was stocking frozen pizzas at Aldis.

No Mcnown fan here, but why do your insults always revolve around what someone does for a living? Genuinely curious.

Well I don't deal with Aldi's. But thanks for again showing us how little you know about anything.

Hey since you have more free time, we haven't gotten one of your bullshit stories about a celebrity that made you their BFF after meeting you one time in a few days. Care to give us some Biggie Fan Fiction?

Not sure if its good or bad, but I see no difference between BigFan's ownership and the new ownership.

I was delivering some frozen dinners to the JEWELS and Son of Svengoolie walked up and asked if I work here, I told him NOPE, I just deliver frozen pizzas....I think we pretty much bonded and should be hanging out much more in the near future.

Oh cmon you can do much better than that. Your entire existence both on and off the board is name dropping. Surely you stood behind somebody of note at a Starbucks today who upon seeing you immediately asked you to babysit their kids.
