Cassette tapes are back; and not just for truckers, hip-hop mix tapes and prisoners:

Sub Pop now releasing all new albums on cassette.

Time to track down that shoe box of old cassette tapes and go booze cruisin' to Sammy Hagar live:

Vinyl, I guess I get, but this seems like a silly affectation. Cassette tapes sucked 20 years ago when I was using them to tape Oasis songs off The Mix. Why would I want a shitty medium back?

Back in the day, it sure as hell seemed like the cassette bargain bins were always loaded with solo Hagar.

I picture SomeGuy scooping some copies up and bringing them home to burn in a ritualistic sacrifice to David Lee Roth.

Terrible medium as far as longevity. Vinyl wear so much better. Tape actually had great quality but does have head hiss and it just wears. It doesn't have the imperfections that wax does to make vinyl a much cooler experience and purchase.

There was nothing cooler than the old Nakamichi tape decks with the mechanism that would physically flip the tape to the other side.

Cassettes were always sonically inferior to vinyl.
Cassettes required time to FF and REW.
Cassettes wore quickly.

I have been on the vinyl nostalgia bandwagon since 2010. I love vinyl. Cassettes were stupid in their prime and and even more stupid in any form of nostalgia.
keep it.

Lolz. I was just reminiscing with a friend about my days working at the LAkehurst Mall Camelot. I busted a dude stealing like 7 copies of The Predator by Ice Cube. Chased him into the parking lot, and his defense was that he got shot and wanted to sell them because he needed the money. I let him keep one, then security arrived. Gimpy ass arm he shoved in my face. "I can't use my arm, I got shot"............. lol.
