I do like that Zobrist walks more than he strikes out. When he has a runner at third and less than 2 outs, chances are good he will put the ball in play and score the runner. When he has the potential tying or winning run on 2nd and nobody out late in the game, he will likely advance that runner, if not score the runner. Cubs have a nice group of power hitters (Schwarber, Rizzo, Bryant and Soler unless he gets dealt), but getting a guy who has a high OBP and doesn't strike out often, is good.

Yep, he's a pro.

A 35 year old pro, then a 36 year old pro, then a 37 year old pro, and then a 38 year old pro.

I don't know what city he will be playing in during the 4th year of this deal, and even with his versatility, I'd guess that he gets less than 250 PA.

They are now going for a World series title in 2016 and 2017 at this point. Arrieta will be a free agent after 2017 as will Lackey. So adding guys capable of helping them to a title in these next 2 years has to be their focus. If Zobrist helps them win a title (or 2) in the next 2 years, anything that comes after that will be fine. Many of the important pieces like Rizzo, Schwarber and Bryant are going to be around much longer, but I think Theo and Jed sense that they have a great chance to pull it all together the next 2 seasons and are in their "All In" mode. Again, I don't agree with the Zobrist deal if it means they now cannot get a top CF. But I suspect they will still add that to the mix too. I just hope it is Span on a 1-2 year deal, so they don't block Almora's path to the major leagues. He's the next big thing and I won't be surprised if he makes it up before 2016 is over.

I might have been a little off on this one.

Never really know how good a player is until you see him play daily. Really good but he is 35. Getting his best at this moment.
