Latos facing a NL team.....not a good thing, as they know him and his stuff all too well. How many bad starts has he had in a row now 5? I said this was going to happen and it's not just bad because the team probably gets yet another loss, but because it further taxes an already ragged bullpen if he has to be pulled early.....again.

Except the Mets roster is loaded with former AL guys and minor leaguers.

While listening to Kap today, he mentioned that Latos is not a guy he can cheer for. That Latos is not a good guy at all. But he did not elaborate on it. Does anyone know any reason Kap might have said what he did? Besides not pitching very well for the last month or so....

Latos broke bad on his former team with regards to the way they handled his injury. He came off like a dbag. Not sure if that's what Kap had in mind.

Actually, the Cubs swept the Mets last season. If you are talking about the post-season, I predicted that they would make the playoffs, win the wild card and might beat the Cardinals, but it was a year early and I didn't think they would make it to the World series. So everything has gone just fine. This is the year true contention began and it should last for quite a while.

America.....I have a royal flush with the Cubs and you are playing with unsuited crap. I'm happy to play this out. It's only going to get worse for you.

He seems to be a bad breaker-upper-er--both with the teams and the fans. Fans didn't like him in SD or Cincy.

Regular season games determine whether or not a team qualifies for the playoffs, so they most definitely matter. Cubs were just a little short last year to be a true contender. They are better now and equipped to truly contend now.

When somebody points out that the Cubs finished in 3rd place last season, you retort with how they had 97 wins and the 3rd best record in baseball. Now you say they werent a contender.

Steve, the fact is that you are a little short to contend as an actual functioning human being.

Steve,

I'd love to respond to your posts--and I mean that--but my God, man, you have to have a foot inside the rational world.

You may not be bright enough to understand. Yes, they did very well to win 97 games and qualify for the playoffs. but with just 2 (1 1/2 last year) reliable starters going into the playoffs, they were short. They needed another starter. They got Lackey, who has a great history in big games, winning clinching games for the Red Sox and Angels in the World Series. They got a great 1st half from Hammel last year, but he was shaky at best down the stretch. So far this year he has been outstanding and Hendricks and Lester have both been better this season than last. Adding Zobrist helps and Heyward certainly helped all the pitchers with his defense. I said during the playoffs that it was a year early. I was very happy to see them do as well as they did, but did not expect a title last season by any means. this year, the chances are good.

Yup, Jason Hammel is only doing his great 1st half/horrible 2nd half routine for like the 4th consecutive season by Professor Steve thinks this is the time he maintains throughout the year.

What'd he get tossed for? Balls and strikes?
