He has some of the best movement and location on his two seam, sinker and change-up.

"Stuff" doesn't just mean 96+ mph fastball or wipeout slider. There ARE other pitches.

Name me a better fifth starter. The Maddux drop was a weak comp you know this as well as I do.

Sox should have done one in April when it all looked good.

The thread is really about Hendricks, not the playoffs.

But thanks for trying Mr. Sox fan not interested in the Cubs.

A big thanks has to go out to Ryan Dempster and his unwillingness to believe the Dodgers didn't want to trade for him which ultimately nixed the agreed trade to the Braves that Theo & Co. worked out.

We did okay trading with Texas. (Take that dolphin!)

I heard Jurko say his BABIP was ridiculous and couldn't sustain ... I don't think his stuff is that good, I've seen Travis Wood put together a real nice season too and I wasn't a believer..its the first week of June.. Lotta games left.

He still makes his share of mistakes but most of the time the opposition isn't doing anything with it...yet. It's not a bold prediction to say he won't keep this up all season but if he can keep his control where it's at he will be solid all season.

It doesn't matter.

One of my big fears as a Cubs fan right now is will the starting rotation be as dominant come playoff time. Sure, Hammel may completely fall apart in the second half. Hendricks is a decent fifth starter, but who cares.

My worry is the number 2 and 3. Lackey really fell apart against a very good Cubs team last year and he isn't getting younger. I would love to see them trade Russell or Baez to get a solid #2, but I don't see many options out there. Jared Weaver excite you?

I'm going to petition Nas to ban you from the Cubs section for the month of June for that..

Russell is our SS for the next 12 years..he aint going anywhere..and Weaver blows..Hendricks > Weaver.

I was being facetious about Weaver. Just saying, there is no better option out there to trade for right now. And yes, Russell or Baez will go. Just not sure which one brings more value.

Only way I see that happening, is if he continues to pitch as he has the past 2 outings and Hammel has another 2nd half meltdown.

I'm not so sure about that. Is he a very good SS? .......sure. Is he a pretty good hitter, that seems to come up big in clutch situations?...yes. But in a couple years Glyber Torres is going to be ready and his ceiling as a fielder and hitter may be higher. If they feel certain he will be the better player, they could deal Russell for a very good pitcher as Lackey and perhaps Arrieta are gone an the need for quality arms is acute. Not saying it's what they will do, or what they should do, but recognizing that it's possible.

Although the trade to the braves was for Julio Tehran. Would not have been a bad back up plan.

Hammel is destined for failure. He is thinner and in better shape this year, but the guy has shown he is the king of the second half breakdown. Very much hope I am wrong on this one, but you need KH to finish strong and be that 4th starter, unless Sonny shows up!

I'm not sure about destined, but I am far from confident that his performance level will continue where it has been this year. He has been bad in the 2nd half the past 2 seasons, after outstanding performance levels in the first half each of those years. But he's supposed to have been training differently and doing stuff he learned from Arrieta to maintain better in the 2nd half. Time will tell.

Lackey also pitched a gem to beat them in Game 1

I see why you're concerned though

Not the Dempster one. That was Randall Delgado. Maybe Tehran was runored in that and the Mahilm deal
