I am at the library. I am not checking this score until I get home at 5.

I literally have no idea which team Heyward plays for.

That is a game they lose the last few years.

Glad to see them hold on.

2 out of 3 from the Cards again, will always take that!

I hate trying to watch games like that on MLB Gameday.

It frays the nerves.

This is the important takeaway for today.

Strop has been very good in most outings. Don't know why some people dislike him so much. I expected Strop to pitch the 8th and was glad he did. One key to this win, was Molina failing to put the bunt down with runners on 1st and 2nd and nobody out. He looked at a fastball that could have easily been bunted and pulled back the bat, then wound up striking out. That was huge. Rondon now 8/8 in saves and Arrieta now 9-0 and Cubs now 31-14 and 5.5 games in front of the Pirates in the NL Central!

What about game 1 of the series?

I'm ok with 2 out of 3 but it should have been a sweep.

Very true. If Rizzo just hits a sac fly to score the runner in the top of the 9th, then Rondon is pitching in the bottom of the 9th rather than Warren and perhaps they don't get the walk off and the Cubs sweep. But taking 4 of 6 so far this year in St. Louis is pretty good.

I've said it before, but the Cards really miss Oquendo coaching third.

The other thing that cracked me up is hearing Coomer say that Rondon made a "great pitch" to Piscotti on 3-2 to strike him out. The way it was described, it was at least a foot off the plate, low and outside. Yes, it was great that he swung at it (and missed), but if Piscotti had looked at it for ball 4, would it still have been a great pitch on a full count?

It wasn't a great pitch, Molina went down swinging at the same pitch ..maybe it looks good to the hitter but it looks horrible on TV.

That is the point.....to make a pitch that initially looks good to the hitter, that he cannot do anything with. But I think Molina's big failure was in not getting his bunt down with a strike 1 count on him and pulling the bunt back on a fastball that was not only an easy pitch to bunt on, but was called a strike after he pulled the bunt back. I think he just wanted to swing, so he stupidly pulled back the bunt, rather than advance runners to 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out. I would love to hear an explanation of why he pulled the bunt back on that pitch.

First time down...fun game! Hendricks deserved the shutout. Hope Zobrist and Heyward get him a couple hookers.
