Statistics seem to think so.

2.38 ERA
.199 BAA
0.98 WHIP

And for JORR

30-10 W/L

IMU making a strong case that not winning the World Series this year would be the biggest choke job in sports history.

Not winning a title by itself could never be the biggest choke. Too many teams have been a game, an out, a pitch away. Those are chokes.

Nobody really remembers the 2001 Mariners amongst the great chokers. They won 116 and didnt make the WS.

You do.

Im a baseball nerd.

The 2011 Rangers being a pitch away from a title 11 different times. The Yankees losing 4 straight in the LCS. The 69,84,03,04, 08 Cubs. The Mets up 7 games with 17 to play. Those are chokes.

But choking is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Were those teams better than the 2016 Cubs?

Pretty hard to compare teams across eras but the 84 and 08 Cubs were both awesome and the best teams in their league. The 04 Yankees were pretty awesome. Mariners obviously were. Rangers were real good and definitely should have won the WS.

Not so much on 03 Cubs or 07 Mets but those were situational chokes as opposed to failing to meet long term expectation

Anyway, Ill be dissappointed if the Cubs fail to make the post season and win at least one series. If they lose to the Giants or Mets in the LCS, I wont be shocked.

YES or NO? There is no middle ground here.

Its really just the big market collapses people remember.

Nelson Cruz missing the fly ball is way worse than Buckner.

IMU is making the case over multiple threads that the 2016 Cubs are one of the greatest teams of all time. I simply want to know if rpb agrees or not.

So, you can slow it down with that "YES OR NO" cop out. The fact that he completely evaded any answer isn't a reflection on me.

Way too early for that. They are off to a tremendous start though and definitely could end up historically great.

So we will pause this discussion for a few more months then.

It's very clear through ~50ish games the Cubs will end up one of the greatest teams in MLB history. There will be no choke.

This is without Babe Schwarber too.

The only way that will happen is if you load up 5 or 6 more spray bottles with vodka.
