Not winning a title by itself could never be the biggest choke. Too many teams have been a game, an out, a pitch away. Those are chokes.

The 2011 Rangers being a pitch away from a title 11 different times. The Yankees losing 4 straight in the LCS. The 69,84,03,04, 08 Cubs. The Mets up 7 games with 17 to play. Those are chokes.


But choking is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Pretty hard to compare teams across eras but the 84 and 08 Cubs were both awesome and the best teams in their league. The 04 Yankees were pretty awesome. Mariners obviously were. Rangers were real good and definitely should have won the WS.

Not so much on 03 Cubs or 07 Mets but those were situational chokes as opposed to failing to meet long term expectation

Anyway, Ill be dissappointed if the Cubs fail to make the post season and win at least one series. If they lose to the Giants or Mets in the LCS, I wont be shocked.

It's very clear through ~50ish games the Cubs will end up one of the greatest teams in MLB history. There will be no choke.
