This will be fun.

If the Cubs win it all, I can celebrate with my friends Dr. K and rpb.
If the Cubs choke it all away, I can celebrate with my friends America and Frank.

Being a neutral observer has its perks.

That's Rick's way of trying to add some pressure to the Cubs, but ultimately saying "Yes" to the topic question.

I highly doubt they are the best pitching staff in the past 50 years.

Get back to me in October. It's too early to debate these stats. Like saying Latos is going to win the Cy-Young in May.

I don't know how to get statistics like that through the start of June for the past 50 years.

So, who is second place?

2015 Cubs who were better than the Cardinals.

The 2015 Cardinals.

IMU is making the case over multiple threads that the 2016 Cubs are one of the greatest teams of all time. I simply want to know if rpb agrees or not.

So, you can slow it down with that "YES OR NO" cop out. The fact that he completely evaded any answer isn't a reflection on me.

I disagree with IMU.

I think they are the greatest team of all time.

This season's start has (barring an epic collapse or a multitude of injuries) at least assured us of being in play for a post-season birth whether that be division or wild card.

I'll take that and not look back.

They are 14th out of 15 teams in the NL in innings pitched, they suck.

Runs per game is 0.11 different between AL and NL.

Where is JORR to talk about fractions of a run? Noticeable silence?

Cubs are 0.73 ERA better than the next best NL team, and 1.06 better than the top AL team.

Try harder.

Not as good as the Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Millwood. Nor probably as good as the Phillies with Halladay, Hammels, Lee and Oswalt. But if it's the best going today or not is all that really matters.

Statistics, when weighted against runs scored during respective seasons, say the Cubs are better.

Figures lie and liars figure. If you have watched the 3 pitching staffs, you can judge them fairly and there is no doubt in my mind (as much as I wish the Cubs had the best pitching staff of all time) that the Braves and Phillies rotations were better. That is not a knock on the Cubs rotation. They have been great. Just not the best I have seen.

Lowest starting staff ERA in all of baseball since the mound was lowered in 1969.

The Chicago Cubs are putting together the most dominant season in MLB history.

Heard Kap say something yesterday like - the cubs starters have given up xxx (significant) number of runs fewer than the Reds bullpen this year..with like 3x the amount of innings.
