Considering there's nothing left in the farm system besides Tim Anderson and guys that are on the fringe of being "prospects", this is probably the best move. wOBA's of .373 and .353 the last two years in Colorado, anything approaching those numbers would instantly be best on the roster. Why he wasn't targeted sooner, I have no idea.

But really, what else are you going to do? Jay Bruce would likely command a price the Sox can't meet, and even if they could, I'm not convinced that Bruce is a better option than Morneau, if we assume Morneau's health.
