JORR's right about Quintana. I don't really have sides in the overall W/L debate, but he's right about Jose. Dude is a fucking loser. It's impossible to have followed the White Sox closely the past few years and come to any other conclusion.

Then Sale was just a slightly above average pitcher instead of a top 5 pitcher

Sale doesn't give up runs and hits in crucial situations almost every single time. Quintana does.

A guy is what he is.

If he consistently loses more games than he wins, he's a loser.

Quintana is average.

Quintana doesn't either. Every inning is crucial for him because he gets 0 runs support. Today the 3rd inning was crucial. He hasn't won a game this year when he's given up more than 1 run.

Quintana is good. Not great, not a loser. He is a pretty damn good #2.

The Sox were shut out for 8 innings today. Quintana did not pitch great today. He was decent.

Blah.

That's the thing you watch most of his games and he doesn't necessarily pitch great every time out but he gives you a chance to win. Problem is even when he pitches great there is a great chance the Sox will lose. Sale wasn't great but the Sox scored runs.

Have seen Q pitch 3 times at the Cell. 21.2 innings, 5 ER, 1 unearned run. Record: 0-3.

Bullshit on the Sox lineup. Q was pretty close to great.

This post is on the money. Sale has not been anything special in his last 4 starts including the last one. But they scored enough to get him a win. Quintana has given his team a chance to win almost ever start. If the offense doesn't score, that is beyond his control. I give him credit for not getting frustrated by the lack of support and continuing to pitch well enough to give his team a chance.

Well when Alex Avila is htting 6th, and terrible Avi Garcia is hitting 7th, its tough to turn the lineup over.

Doesn't the other starting pitcher who you would have us believe isn't as good as The Great Quintana have anything to do with what the Sox score? It's not like the Royals are some offensive juggernaut either. They had scored four fucking runs in their previous six games before coming to Chicago. But I guess The Great Quintana is better than all those lesser pitchers that held them down. He's just unlucky.

Thanks for pointing out that The Cell even with the power poor sock line up is still the 6th most homer prone park....

as to runs scored the fact that the sock are 28th has a direct impact on the overall runs scored at The Cell

Right, it's not a difficult park to hit homers in, but as the chart illustrates, it's not like the top three parks which lend themselves to home runs at a greater rate than anywhere else and what I would really call "bandboxes". There are five parks yielding between 1.17 and 1.21 homers a game.

Anyway, he mentioned wOBA. I think the most you could say about U.S. Cellular is that it's slightly favorable for offenses. Fair?

YEP

Now for a follow up question... why do they keep building a team based on pitching (they have been out of Comiskey for 25 years) wouldn't it make sense to build around a power offense with average pitching...l like Boston?
